    Default British Newspapers

It seems that any one can write for a uk paper on boxing now.

I scanned the sport section of my Daily Mirror today and came across a small picture of Hatton so i read the tiny article. In it, it described Jose Luis Castillo as a 'wuss' because he went down from Hattons viscious body shot and branded the possible Malignaggi-Hatton fight a no-risker for The Hitman. I also recall several over mistakes I have been infuriated by over the years. I remeber Calzaghe being described as one of the best british middleweights ever even though he campaigns at 168 and I also recall Gati being described as a quick, boxing slickster when he is more of a brave, heart-filled warrior. Finally, when Jermaine Taylor beat Hopkins for the first time in a fight which was very close, Taylor was described as 'boxing masterfully'.

I do enjoy cloums written by people who know boxing. Barry Mcguigan (Daily Mirror, i think) and Frank Warren's (News of the world) columns are always a good read (despite the latters always have a tendency to be biast towards his own fighters). But sometimes the coverage is a disgrace.

Anyone else remember any completely of the mark statements in newspapers from around the world or Is also made angry by this.

There is an article posted at the Hatton site writen by a US journalist, proper wanker. Castillo's shot and I knew all along, Castillo is a quitter, Ive had a spar or two in my time and I know what its all about blah blah blah, the usual.

A lot of us have a crack at writting, sometimes its good sometimes its not so good, but I'd bet its always factually correct. Some off these muppets havent got a clue.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

2 weeks ago it had an article in which they had interviewed De La Hoya in it said that he has ruled out a fight with hatton. Oh and it had hatton saying in 1 of the papers today that Americans cant take it when a British fighter or any other nations fighter for that matter beats an american, they are cry babies.

Hey, at least they cover boxing. I buy the Boston Globe on sunday because they used to cover boxing. Their head writer, Ron Borges, got suspended for plagarism (I believe). They haven't had a boxing column for months. You're lucky if you get a sentence or two in the miscellaneous sports news. If you don't favor baseball, football, basketball or hockey you're basically out of luck. Oh, add in tennis golf, sailing and motor racing.

Yeah, the Daily Mirror called the Castillo fight his Las Vegas debut. He fought in Vegas in January against Urango, as we all know.

    It's not just the papers...

They've taken the link off now, by Skysports.com had a headline "Taylor retains IBF middleweight crown against spinks"

I also remember BBC reporting Hatton vacated the IBF welterweight title he beat Collazo for.

Alot of the media seems to be a bit "boxing knowledge retarded" at times.
