Default WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG FOR THESE FIGHTS TO HAPPEN?

Im a big roy jones fan. I am getting sick of the amount of time it takes for these boxers to sign these contracts and arrange these fights. I know its to do with the promoters as well and money and etc, but for crying out loud, roy jones has fought once this year!..and his next fight now is on January 8th! Deep inside I know these fighters can make these fights happen quicker but greed and money obsession means more now than their rep..can you blame them..or not?

    What are your thoughts?

I think this one is more of Trinidad's doing. For some reason he said he would not fight before January. Jones wanted the fight earlier than this but Tito said he would not fight before this. Maybe he needs the time to get back into shape.

The RJJ fight might have something to do with giving Tito time to drop from 210-220 (Which is an assumption I'm making) to 170 and attempt to prepare for what will be another full frontal beating he will take.

As far as other fighters/fights go I mean they gotta rest their bodies and have some time off. Also injuries may occur in fights and need healing.
Other fighters by contracts, for example Ponce De Leon has a 4 fight contract with GBP, 1 more this year and 3 next year so they spread out his fights to cover up an entire year. On avg. fighters (World Class) fight about 3 times a year and thats injury free and everything running smooth, 2 fights is also common.

If each fight paid only $25,000 they would fight more often.

This has always happened Hagler vs Hearns was supposed to happen back in 83 if i remember right and it didn't happen till 1985.

Leonard vs Hagler was supposed to happen way back in early 80s it took years for them to finally meet this has always happened in boxing not just now but i do agree there were more superfights back in the 80s ect but this year has been as good as any in history imo.

promoters then were not careful with the boxers' health. Boxers before were considered gladiators by their managers or promoters. it's good that this indifference to the boxers' health and condition had stopped.

I figure the fighters are a lot like me. I need a few days advance notice on a trip to the Burger King. I like to pump myself up for it. The greater the chore the more time I need to get mentally prepared.

That's why la motta decided to retire from boxing. He can't take anymore the punishment and most importantly, the abstinence. Man, his wife was already complaining. If your wife complains about her s*x life, THAT'S SOMETHING!
