Default I Wish Roy Jones Jr Would Of Used His Jab More

Just finished watching Roy Jones Jr vs Vinny Pazienza and he had a lighting jab and threw it in 3s and 4s i wished he would of used his jab more that would of helped him outjab Tarver because Tarver threw very little number of jabs.

Would just like to say that was amazing when Vinny didn't even land a single punch in round 4 man Jones was amazing.

Roy had a beautiful jab (pretty much everything he did in the ring was beautiful), but I have to think that there was reason why he didn't use it often. He knew what he was doing, and he knew what to do better than any of us. Maybe he didn't like to commit to the jab for fear of getting countered, who knows. But its hard to fault the guy, he did amazing without it.

I agree with what you said but in some fights i wish he would of used it in the Tarver fight that would of been perfect time to use it.

I didn't think his jab was that good against Pazienza. Sure it was fast, but it didn't have real snap to it. I think his jab was far better when he fought Ruiz because he actually was connecting solidly with the punch.

By that point in his career he had all but stopped using it. When you knock a guy out with your hands coming from behind your back I guess you believe that nothing can stop you.

I truly believe he will continue his comeback and once he achieves top ranking again, he'll retire on top.

I gotta disagree there, I saw him snap Pazienza's head back plenty of times with the jab.

Pazienza that was a wonderful performance by Roy. But in terms of beatdown I think I like the Hall fight more

Roy probably did not use the jab because everyone in his weight would have retired because he would have really been unbeatable and was giving them a glimmer of hope.

its funny before i read your post i was thinking about the vinny paz fight. i think there were a couple of reasons why he neglected his jab. 1 he was too defensive minded or should i say counter attack minded
2 if he fought guys his height or taller mainly in the light heavy division he would shruggle abit more mentally then anything to land the jab so he would use his hooks instead to get his respect against naturally bigger guys
& 3 his long left hook was almost as quick and his best punch he must of thought why use is it when he can land his favourite punch

I don't think it really snapped Pazienza's head back all that much. Most of the time it wasn't landing hard at all and thats why it cut Pazienza because it would glance off him.
