    Default Rematches

By Matt Wells: More and more, it seems, minutes after the closing bell, no matter what the fight, no matter who the opponents are, fans, promoters, and pundits inevitably begin the clarion call for a rematch. Such is what happened following Kelly Pavlik’s searing victory over Jermain Taylor last weekend. And such is what has led us to this weekend’s big match-up begin Manny Pacquiao and Marco Antonio Barrera.

    Default Re: Rematches

I'm of the mind that I don't like immediate rematches. I prefer it when the loser reestablishes himself over four or five fights...let the thing simmer a bit. Morales-Barrera is an example of how I like rematches handled. In between the first and second bouts, Barrera beat Hamed in what was considered a huge upset at the time, so that plus letting the thing simmer for a couple of years gave the rematch something extra that probably would have been missing had they fought immediately.
