Guy's been knocked out by Froch, at least I'm pretty certain. Think he was KO'd by Bremmer and I think he might have fought Kessler.

    Obviously a confidence builder.

I know he looked dry at 160 but I really wish he would stay there. Maybe it would mean trimming a bit but if he did it this long, why not now?

168 is just to deep for Miranda. Outside of the welterweight ring, it is going to be the most top heavy division in all of boxing here shortly. Calzaghe and Kessler are a clear 1 and 2, and then we have both Taylor and Pavlik moving up after their showdown. Jeff Lacy is coming back in this next year, if he has any left then he is certainly going to be higher ranked then Miranda and guys like RJ, Winky and B-Hop are always pondering testing the super middleweight waters. Miranda doesn't really have a chance to do anything at the top.

I suppose he could go after an Allen Green rematch.

At 160, after this big Taylor - Pavlik bout, if the two top guys clear out then the top guy in the division is probably going to be Arthur Abraham. That is unless Winky decides to clean up but there isn't any real money there right now. And it's not like we have tons of new guys ready to come in there either.

Miranda put out a good account of himself versus Abraham and that's what started all that Miranda-mania. If he stays at 168 then we can pretty much expect him to be an ESPN2 fixture. He'll have good KO's but not be any real competitive matchups until he challenges the top guys where he just isn't going to win.

This is great news! CC for the story Mar. I'm a big Miranda fan and I'm glad to see he's trying to bounce back from the ass kicking that Pavlik gave him. I actually think he'll do a lot better at 168 than at 160, because he looked weight drained against Pavlik (not that Pavlik wouldn't have beaten him anyways). I guess we'll get a chance to see how his chin holds up at 168 as the guy he's fighting seems to have a decent KO%. I wouldn't be surprised to see him fight Allan Green again... hopefully his knocks Green out.

Being weight drained had nothing to do with pavlik laying the smackdown on him If anyone can box at a distance better then Miranda they'll beat him. If he uppercuted went to the body and stopped winging his shots from the outside he'd do better. Its in his style that his flaw is. He fights a taller fighters fight when he isnt a taller fighter

Oh I agree completely, like I said in my post I think Pavlik would've beaten him anyways, but compared to the other fights I have seen him in, Miranda appeared a lot slower and more listless, which to me indicated it could've been weight issues. If he doesn't adapt his style he's never going to win a belt because showed everyone how to beat him, but he's an exciting fighter and he has a great story behind him.

Default Edison Miranda To Face Henry Porras on 10/30

Glad to see Pantera back,he's an exciting fighter. 168 should be a better weight class for him.

In retrospect Porras' biggest win (or make that 'only noteworthy win') was against another Colombian, Alejandro Berrio. But Porras is 36 now, and he wasnt even good enough to beat the division's b-guys (like Otis Grant, Jürgen Brahmer) when he was younger, so obvioulsy it is a confidence builder for Miranda. Will be interesting to see though how well he seems to fit into 168.

Definetely also worth noting the American debuts of Barthelemy and Gamboa. Especially Gamboa is probably one of the 10 best prospects p4p in the world. At least if he can keep his weight down (he boxed at 126 last friday, but at 135 two months ago. 126 two months before that - generally that kind of thing is a bad sign).

    His last fight:

Super middleweight does have a wealth of talent at the moment.
Can't say the same for the middles, thats why i hope Miranda sticks around.

I agree and I'll definitely still eb watching his fights. Not everyone throws 100 plus power punches per round and has a rock solid chin like Pavlik,so Edison can still beat alot of fighters.
