Default A pound for pound list; with a Twist!

Pound for Pound the best chins in boxing:

    1) Marvin Hagler.
To stand and trade with Hearns was viewed as Boxing suicide, he survived and came through!
Also, his win over Mugabi and the fact he was nevr legitiamtely knocked down.
    2) Jake LaMotta
Never down, in a career that contained fights with SRR, Marcel Cerdan and a guy called o'neill bell!!!
    3) James Toney
I really don't like Toney, but any guy who starts at around 11st and can take punches from heavies makes my list!
    4) Bernard Hopkins:
Justification really isn't needed by me, his fights speak for themselves, rarely knocked down.
    5) Wayne McCullough:
For many he should be higher on the list, but the other hopped more weights, still Wayne could stop traffic with that skull.
    6) Muhammad Ali:
He was down, but i found that was mainly due to balance/fatigue. The Greatest took phenomenal punishment in the latter half of his career and was never stopped nor retired of his own free will.
    7) Julio Caesar Chavez
In his division it's common to see guys hit the deck a lot, but Julio blatantly refused to go down on many occasions.
    Joe Frazier:
With the exception of the Foreman fights, it seemed like you had to shoot joe in order to stagger him, he literally had to be lifted off his feet to be put down!!!
    9) Harry Greb.
A warrior king in an age of warriors, from what iv seen and researched of this guy he was pretty hard to hurt!
    10) Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Although a defensive fighter he's been tagged by some of the best in the game and he remained unfazed, great chin.

    Honorable mentions,
    Evander Holyfield.
Gerald McClellan: took Julian Jacksons bombs!

In his entire career, amateur & professional, Mikkel Kessler has never ever been knocked down. Surely he gets at least an honourable mention for that.

I was actually going to slot Mikkel in, but i thought people might accuse me of being a Johnny come lately and only selecting recent fighters

He hasn't foughten any real punchers...

I think Tua obviously deserves a mention, and Foreman.

Kessler has an obvious solid chin but only had 40 odd amatuer fights to go with his 40 pro.

Joan Guzman has never been floored in the pros and won 300 odd amateur fights only losing a handful.

Yeah, 40 odd, so it has to be put into perspective.

Calzaghe has been floored twice in about 180 fights ams-pros. That's 100 more chance's to get chinned than Kessler.

    Juan La Porte
    Kid Gavilan
    Sugar Ray Robinson
    Marvin Hagler
    Jake Lamotta
    Julio Cesar Chavez

    All deserve a mention.

Chavez should be higher imo. Didn't George Chuvalo have a great chin too?

Yes he took Foreman's best shots and didn't go down he was TKO but was never dropped a hell of a chin he had.

and also Panama Al Brown deserves a mention aswell.

Chuvalo definately should be up there at number 1
For today's standards aside from that shock knockdown in his
last fight against Mack, Librado Andrade has shown a hell of a chin.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I love Floyd but there's no way that he should be on that list. Floyd's defensive ability and speed allows him to never take the full brunt of a blow. He's been caught a couple times but nothing major. I think ODLH should take his spot. ODLH has taken big shots and I've never seen him hurt.
