    Default The Cruiserweights

It seems as though David Haye will be moving up to Heavyweight no matter what so I thought I would do short analysises on the remaining contenders who could fight it out to find out who is the new cruiser champ.

Jean-Marc Mormeck: The former champ lost to Haye for this incident to occur. He is a sound fihter snd in his fight with Haye, he floored the Hayemaker in the 4th so he was certainly by no means destroyed. Mormeck may wish to take a tune-up fight before returing into the mix. He has done that before, after losing to O'Neill Bell he took on 10-15-1 Sebastien Hill. He already holds wins over Bell, Wayne Braithwaite and Virgil Hill so he has to be considered one of the world's best espite being knocked out by Haye. If he wants it he should be given the chance to fight for the titles again.

O'Neill Bell: Already hold a K.O victory over Mormeck so you cannot right him out of the equation. He has ot fought since loosing to Mormeck in march but he is 32 so there is a few years left in the tank. Would O'neill be able to shake of the ring rust and be a major force in the division once again. A rubber match with Mormeck would be exciting but would this fight be likely to be made when both have lost their last fight. But apart from Mormeck he lacks a real big name (in terms of the current 200lbs division today) which culd count against him.

    Enzo Maccarinelli:
The welshman has been very active this yaer, defending his WBO bauble 3 times this year. The ones against Gunn and Azzaoui were virtually meaningless but those to wins sandwich a very impressive K.O victory over the highly capable Wayne 'Big Truck' Braithwaite. Enzo is also very popular in Britain and will draw big crowds in Wales. He is also more well known in America than other in the division including Mormeck. He has heavy hands so promoters will be ready to push him into a vacant title fight.

In my opinion these are the top 3 guys who deserve a shot at the soon to be vacated Ring belt. I also think that the Arslan-Hill winner or Steve Cunningham should get the chance tofight the new champ first. Any of the 3 possible fights which could arise if that were to happen would all be entertaining while not to hard for the new champ, whoever it may be.

I'd like to know your thoughts on who should fight for the belt.

Enzo didn't KO Braithwaite. And is he more known than any of the others in America? Doubt it. They didn't show his last couple of fights did they?

Enzo is my favourite, met him a couple of times; absolutlely the most amiable, friendly boxer if met face to face.

For me he has to win a few more first tho. O''neil Bell would be a nice fight for him although Risky and I can see him fighting Cunningham

I don't even consider Bell in the equation right now. He had a comeback fight lined up a few months back, didn't return promotors calls and had to be pulled from the card for going AWOL. I think something is wrong there, as I've heard very little news since.

I consider Cunningham a bigger contender than Bell. He's got a bright future at the weight, is active & has time on his side.

I also like Tomasz Adamek. Adamek was a very good LHW, and looks the stronger for moving up. I'm confused to his situation though, because I was under the impression he was going to fight Cunningham, but it appears that Cunningham has been forced to fight Huck first.

If Haye moves up, there is still talent at Cruiser to make the division competative. Something is wrong if Warren is struggling to find Enzo a class opponent.

Just as long as the guys you mention fight each other I'll be happy. No piddling about with tinpot defences.

I hope you don't consider Bobby Gunn a tinpot defence? The man is sheer quality. Great boxing skill. Has the speed of the cheetah and the power of an ox. He's like a Cruiserweight Mayweather.

I used to think this was a relaly poor division but thaks to Amats knowledge,I watched some fights and man have their been some wars. Those fighters you mentioned are all capable of taking the lead in the division but there are NUMEROUS other contenders hanging around, including some youngsters,so this is definitely a packed division!

To me the Cw division seems to be like a transition point not to many people make a legacy at the weight.

    No, that is true

I'd you for that but damn karma won't allow it. I'll hit ya in 24. Heavyweight is full of alot of people out of shape or too lazy to work down to Cruiser. I like Eddie Chambers, but I think he could easily work his weight down to Cruiser should he fail against Povetkin.
