heheh, yeah... I saw it in January and found it hilarious... ad in the news paper.

I was walking through bainbridges the other day and they had some one demoing it... I couldn't hide the fact I found it hilarious... I'm pretty sure they saw me and my mate laughing at the thing...

Most of the Ab machines that give a six pack in days not months apparently!

Also - this is not equipment related but when people do 50 'push ups' by lowering and raising their bums only and nodding their head, arching their backs about 2 cm and think they're doing it right.

Often seems to happen in class situations and I really have to restrain myself from going up and telling them that those are NOT real push ups!

A mate of mine, who happens to be a lazy fat bastard, has bought this vibration pad that he swears tones his muscles why he does nothing.

So lazy, and of course it doesn't work. People who buy into these gimmicks deserve to lose their money imo.

You cannot get fit and healthy without living a fit and healthy lifestlye.

Good diet and regular exercise, it's the only way.

I can't stand people who take supplements in the gym and then head out on the razz at the weekend

Especially whilst you basically end up living like a monk during the boxing season!

Sharla, welcome to the world of 'lazily kidding yourself you're actually doing an exercise'! :P

It's because people don't realise they have to work to get as good as those around them in the gym... they want to be that good but they don't want to put the work in or have the patience - they want it NOW!

So despite the fact that anyone who is genuinely fit knows that everyone starts at a certain level these people will do sloppy reps to try and impress whilst people with brains look at them and think "I wish they would do 8 good ones instead of 15 'not ones'..."

Yeah Adam I hear where you're coming from there.
    The same applies to boxing.
One correct jab is better than 5 sloppy ones.

anyone of you do horse riding? You do use your legs to grip and turn the horse. So yes sitting on a wobbly surface will cause you to clench your thighs and use your abs.

You could sit that way on a £10 exercise ball Missy...

It's touted as being able to give you a total body work out without you actually doing anything on it...

Bottom line is that you need to stress your body in someway and then support it whilst it adapts to be able to cope with this stress.

agreed, but some folk just love the gizmo and the more it costs the better! Our gym has now got one of those vibrating powerplates. I only see ladies on it. Somehow standing on it is like really good, I'll stick to my squats.

The gym I worked at had similar things but worse - you lay down on them!

Power plates are good at removing lactic acid as part of a cool down... that's about it. I've heard that it's supposed to make exercices harder if you do it standing on one but I haven't tried it myself so can't comment.
