    Default I Was Wrong....December 8th.

I take my hat off to Floyd Mayweather.Poised, fearless and deadly were all applicable after Saturday night.
For me it was the official baptism of a boxing legend or cannonisation of a boxing Saint.
He truaely was that good and I'm sure Sugar Ray at ringside was loosening his collar.
He showed better defense than Pernell at times and better offense than well...most boxers! I gained a lot of respect for the Pretty Boy.

Joe Cortez....Well personally I feel he was disgraceful. (Note: Hatton lost Hatton the fight not Cortez so don't take this wrong!) I felt he stopped Ricky fighting his fight by watching him like a hawk. In turn he was very leniant with Floyd, ignoring several elboews forearms and rabbit blows yet penalising Hatton for the same thing.
    Questionable.

And as for Ricky.....Well you guys may have thought I'd abandon him.
    Never!
Still my favourite fighter, I was absolutley gutted for him and the post fight interview nearly broke my heart! The guys a legend, I certainly hope he doesn't feel he must retire as to be honest he was the only fighter who ever made a Mayweather fight essential viewing. He kept me on the edge of my seat and he boxed well.
If possible, I admire him even more after defeat and as I said....Forever my favourite fighter.

I can't wait to see what the PPV numbers were, Floyd is becoming a big draw because even non boxing fans knew he was fighting which usually only for Oscar De La Hoya.

He was most upset about "letting us all down."
    What a guy!

Yeah Floyd is becoming Box office...and he deserves it.

#324. I often feel that to say what i want to say about boxing, I should just copy and paste exactly what you write.

Floyd was superb. Cortez was a twat. Hatton went out on his shield and will be back. I'm still behind Ricky 100%. Ricky is a credit to boxing. Floyd maybe the best EVER. Just amazing. I'm still gutted.

CC Donny, Hatton boxed like a lion but was outclassed by Mayweather in the end. Seeing Hatton get KOd is the nearest to crying I have ever been over sport and the interview him at the end was upsetting for a big Hatton fan like me too. He will always be my favourite fighter and he will be back for sure!!

Cmon man, what do you expect when you tell people to kiss your ass right in the middle of the ring.
Cortez was totally even before that, and the point deduction was far and away obvious after that, but even I said(and I wanted Hatton to win)he cant expect any favours in there after that
Referees are human too you know, well there are a couple I have my doubts about,Ricky wanted an inside fight,Floyd gave it to him.
In alot of ways Cortez was doing Ricky a favour by breaking them that fast, the only things Ricky was landing that were legal and clean were outside.
Inside Floyd just ate him up,I didnt expect it either, but cmon bro, stop crying about the ref, they were both dirty as hell, but if your going to be dirty do it away from the ref.Thats boxing 101,ricky didnt,Floyd did

CC returned. It warmed my heart after the stoppage when the fans kept singing "theres only one Ricky Hatton." Brilliant.

I'm not bitter nor angry about the situation but I'm under no illusion that Joe Cortez did not perform well on the night. He had obviously heard of Ricky's penchant for clinching and mauling and as a result all clinches initiated by Haton were broken immediatly (which is improper as a referee is supposed to let the clinch go for 3 seconds to see how the fighters progress.)
Clinches initiated by Floyd were left unpunished and Floyd purposely lifting his elbows and forearms was deemed acceptable!
As a trainer you no Floyd said "I'll try this till he warns me, I mite cause him to swell a bit." and when he wasn't reprimanded he continued.

Had Joe reffed a fight I was in a treated me that way (which is how I looked at it) I would have been outraged. Not bitter, like I said Hatton lost the fight decisivley himself, but Joe did a poor job.

Well I'd love to see him win jr. welter once more (it is a possability he wins it again and goes down as one of the best light welters ever if he gets the opposition.)
I sincerely hope he does and I'm looking forward to finding out.

There's some exciting match ups at 140 for Hatton like Ricardo Torres man that would be barn burner.

It started well before that. In fact i feel it starte about thirty seconds into the first round...I don't want to rewatch it and find out. He turned his back after another bad decision. That was in the third i believe.

He didnt turn his back,he bent over and slapped em.Joe was letting the holds go longer then he should have before that
If you want to bitch about Cortez, about all you really have,is he really should have stopped it right after the first knockdown when Ricky clearly couldnt defend himself, rather then letting him take that second knockdown

Rewatch the fight, he broke clinches instantaneously!
