Default Did Joe ruin Jeff Lacey

Lacey has look poor in the ring his fights since the Calzage beating. If he didnt get the knock down against Peter I had Peter winning the fight. Did Joe ruin him or did he expose him (was he never really that good).

Not taking anything away from Joe . Even if he exposed him I still think Joe should be near the top of the P4P list.

I believe Joe did a bit of both. He definitely exposed lacy, but at the same time he dented jeff's confidence severely. Jeff may not have been that good pre Calzaghe, but he was better than he is now.

Also the injuries have not helped Lacy.

More exposed than ruined. Lacy always extremely sloppy technically. Joe should definitely get props for being the one to expose him though. Lacy is a one-dimensional fighter, but that one dimension (power) was plenty to overcome his considerable weaknesses against almost everyone in the SMW division--though granted it is one of the weakest divisions in the sport.

I don't want the Joe fans to jump on me for this though. I'm not hating on Joe. After watching him totally outclass Kessler, I'm convinced that he's a victim of a weak division (and Frank Warren), and that he's got plenty of upside to burn. Agreeing to that Hopkins fight would be a good start. The winner of Pavlik/Taylor II wouldn't be a bad fight either. (I'd pick him in both of those fights, BTW.) There's clearly no worthwhile fight left for him at SMW--he's at least a class above everyone else there.

I think Calzaghe turned Lacy from a B to a C fighter. Anybody who thought Lacy was an A fighter is fooling themselves

We agree on this one Lacy was hype , and he was a poor fighter even before Calzaghe fought him

Joe beat the aggression out of Lacy. Jeff looks scared to throw a big punch now in case he gets made to look foolish again.

Lacy also had the injury after the Galzaghe fight and that has hampered his confidence too.

Yes he did but he was never that good anyway, and that showed against Syd Vanderpool and Omar Sheika.

You are all quite ruthless to the guy. He never created the hype. He will have to stage manage his career otherwise we will see him fall from grace.

It is sad though seeing a fighter trying to regain something that he can never reclaim again, his perceived invincibility.

I like Lacy i never said it was his fault about *Mike Tyson Of Supermiddleweights* but i did always see major flaws in Lacy. Against Sheika, Vanderpool, if you want my honest opinion these people who were hyping Lacy up. I believe had only seen 1 or 2 of his fights and had not seen his major flaws in the fights i mentioned.
