Default Gavin Rees to face Kotelnik on Jan 19 according to boxrec.com!

Is this guy any good at all, isn't he the really short one that fought Solomon Mbaye?

funny comments from Enzo Calzaghe on a Hatton-Rees fight

    fightnews

"[Hatton] needs to prove he deserves a world title shot first," WBA super lightweight beltholder Gavin Rees' manager/trainer Enzo Calzaghe (father of Joe) bizarrely told the Daily Star. "Just because you are a name doesn't mean you should get a world title shot straight away." Rees, who was fighting in six-rounders two fights ago, and was considered a safe defense when he upset Souleymane M'baye for the title in an undercard bout in July, has a record of 27-0, 13 KOs. IBO light welterweight champion Hatton (43-1, 31 KOs) is a three-time world champion, is widely still considered to be the top 140-pounder, and gave pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather a tough go in a Las Vegas PPV megafight that attracted 20,000 Brits overseas. The elder Calzaghe did not specify what Hatton needs to do to prove he deserves a shot at Rees.

Have to say it was a disgrace Souleymane M'baye ever got a world title. The guy's a terrible boxer IMO.

Gavin Rees is a crap boxer that's why he isn't even in the top 20.

Can't see Gavin Ree's keeping that title. Seriously i think i could beat him if i made the weight.

Straights all night long. Easily beaten IMO

    LOLL

    Thats ridiculous

He is just a small guy, Not really in shape kinda stocky and lumpy

he would get stopped with a nasty body shot in round one by hatton

And i would giggle for a week

Gavin Rees is an atrocious fighter - there is no-one more surprised than him that he won a world title, and guaranteed he willl lose it in the next fight, even if he fights the ring girl !

He is however overjoyed he won a world belt, which is basically beyond his wildest dreams - good luck to him in retirement !

I like Enzo but did he really have a straight face when he said that Come on now, I expect bizarre things to be said by promoters and managers but that was a bit above and beyond.

LMFAO CC but yeh Gavin Rees is awful and I you can pretty much say Frank Warren will put him against no-hopers until he has to fight the mandatory at the latest date possible.

Rees beat M'Baye because he did'nt take him serious Rees would be lucky to get through round 1 vs Hatton.

    LMAO.

Noway Hatton would be a pefect fight for Rees. I can see why he said it. If anyone likes it inside it's Rees.

What the guy's saying is Hatton isn't going to take the WBA from Ree's because he won't let him fight him. Not yet anyway.

I heard that Witter was the main possibility. I think Witter would try an put one hell of a beating on Hatton.

If Rees fights anyone half decent in his first defence he will lose that title he may aswell lose it to Hatton and get paid good money for lying down

I loved Gav when he fought M'baye funny little fight but he needs to be like what 2-3 divisions down.

I think he said "he cant kill his body to get down in weight" or he didn't want to..so he is propably gonna get owned whoever he fights.
