Believe it or not...as much as I loved the fight & the show by me bwoy...this was not my favorite of the year.

For that option...I voted Pavlik vs Taylor.

Either way...I did notice something...& it caused me to basically start this thread.

I have some issues with, what was, my favorite commentating team...here it be...& why.

Cheers & Happy New Years bitches!!!

Floyd vs. Hatton : Up to the 55th second of the 4th round, HBO was on prepared to ride Hatton’s sack the duration of the bout. As usual Emanuel Steward showed his hatred & stupidity in all regards for Floyd Mayweather by saying that Hatton was dominating & confusing Floyd. Steward’s a tool…he said that he wouldn’t have taken a point from Hatton because Floyd fights the majority of his fights with his back turned…even though Hatton had been warned for 5 rounds about hitting behind the head & he then hammered Floyd behind the head & then pushed him through the ropes while hitting him behind the head…again. Fuck Manny! They then started crying about Cortez…fair but firm Cortez. The thing is…he was on Floyd as much as he was Hatton. Hatton lost a point & justly so…he didn’t argue over it…other than turning his ass & back to Floyd. Lampley & Merchant chimed in to say that Floyd couldn’t be Floyd due to the fact that Hatton was so fast & Floyd was used to facing slow plodding fighters like Baldomir…they must’ve forgotten Judah. Hilarious. After the 7th…Floyd was applauded for his flurries & right hand leads. Once Floyd turned it on in the 8th when Floyd almost broke Hatton in half with body shots & that massive straight right…it was all Floyd love from then on out. Then, after Floyd sent Hatton through the turn buckle & ass out on the mat…it was the performance of the year. Total fwockin’ douche bags. Sickening.

I’d like to say this about this bout…the rabid support of Hatton & the hatred of Floyd made me want to see a Mayweather knockout over Hatton…I had no idea that I would’ve actually gotten what I had wanted…in truth…after seeing Hatton on the canvas…I’d have wished for the opposite.

Afterwards…I had from fans, writers, & commentators what I said that I would here…Hatton was out of his weight class & Floyd was too big for him.

    Hilarious.

Need I mention that Floyd was a natural 130lb to 140lb fighter? Nah…I didn’t think so.

If it was tough for me to swallow...how bittersweet a bout it must've been for Hattonians.

Poor Ricky. I hated seeing him devastated & humiliated…& he was. I hated seeing that…especially while hearing “Walkin in uh Hatton wonderland” sang through the gils by a bunch of drunken fools…such as me-self. Cheers to them bitches.

Calzaghe vs. Kessler : Oddly enough…this would be my second favorite fight of 2007...mainly just because it was one of my guys doing what everyone else said that he couldn’t do & that was winning in divine fashion. Calzaghe, much like Floyd in this respect, can never do enough to warrant him being one of the THE fighters of the decade…of my decade. Calzaghe vs. Kessler pulled terrible numbers for HBO & amongst most fight fans…but it raked in unrealistic numbers stateside & in Wales for a 1:00 a.m. bout. It was phenomenal. Joe showed up & proved his point…but oddly enough…again…HBO went against the common denominator & favored the “other man”. That being said…HBO has a large amount invested in Kessler…not sure if it’s more or less than they have in Joe now…but either way…they picked favorites again & I just cant understand that…being in their positions.

Joe was unbelievable & Kessler was just as impressive. I was shocked that fight fans didn’t turn out for this bout. That is one thing that makes me question boxing’s validity in the future…the fact that most fans don’t know a good fight from a great one.

Banking on & concentrating on the big names does not a good fight fan make.

Many who missed this fight…really missed a fight.

Joe looked fantastic & Kessler was there at the end of every shot with an answer.

Now...as for the commentating...while Kessler fan Max Kellerman was a bit biased to start...he soon saw the error of his ways & jumped on both with Steward & Lampley to support Joe in the end of the bout.

Finally...these tools make sense when in the same bag...but up next? Oscar vs Floyd.

Total nuthugging disgraceful behavior from the haters as they all rooted for Oscar...who was clearly...no matter what anyone thinks...out of his class.

Floyd vs. Oscar : The entire fight HBO's Commentating Crew were in Oscar’s back pocket. All of them gently snuggled between credit cards, the prospects of millions of dollars, & photog’s of Oscar's wife & kids. Sickening. I was in the joint for this one…& honestly…the hatred for Floyd was as rabid there in the MGM Grande Arena as it was on websites, amongst fans, & with writers…so I won’t even go into depth on this one.

Suffice it to say, contrary to popular opinion, Floyd beat Oscar.

The thing is...everyone else did'nt see it that way. Although it was easily enough for me…it was not a TKO.

HBO can be quoted as saying "Sledge hammer shots fired over the top!" in regards to Oscar's performance. Hillarious. I have followed Oscar throughout his career..."Sledge hammer shots fired over the top!" is a descrip that I could never hang on Oscar...& I'm a fan of the man.

For some odd reason...this is the only way that Floyd can win as far as HBO, most haters, & site writers see it.

Total bullshit as far as I am concerned.

Floyd handled Oscar…pretty easily. No matter what side of the screen or mat you were viewing from.

Oddly enough…most people score the flurries that Oscar ineffectively throws on the ropes. Oscar was never able to handle Floyd in the center of the ring & just because he throws a S***-pot-load of meaningless shots on the ropes at the end of the round doesn’t make for a controversial decision.

    Ree-gotdam-dick-ulous!

I loved being at this fight...but I hated the bullshit being spewed from the fight fans in the arena & the garbage I heard on sites that I flipped through after I got home.

Cotto vs. Mosley : HBO’s & my numbah foe!!! This was a great fight. There were many critics for this one after the 8th round. Prior to it…Cotto was a super star…after the 8th or 9th…Cotto was a mystery within an enigma. Why run from a man that you had dominated for the better half of the bout? Whatever it ended up being…Cotto shined like the super star that his promoter claims him to be. Cotto pretty much outboxed the better boxer & shocked the world.

HBO’s team called this one pretty much right up to the 9th round…& you can’t really blame them…even the most devout Cotto fans were left scratching their heads on this one.

To the body & to the head Cotto would stay all night long. Mosley would land some shots that many believed would have fumbled Cotto…they didn’t. Cotto stayed in the pocket all ngiht long…up to the 9th…where I honestly believe Cotto was injured.

What the future holds for Miguel Cotto is yet to be seen…but well have a bunch of eager viewers…that much I know.

Pavlik vs. Taylor : Up until the 5th round they were on Taylor’s jock strap to demolish Pavlik. The camp & trainer & fighter were all correct & in sync for this bout. It was to be Taylor’s defining fight per HBO;s commentators. Pavlik would define it differently. Pavlik would come out throwing everything that he had & Taylor would take it & answer back.

After getting dropped in the 2nd HBO’s team wrote Pavlik off. After the end of the 4th Pavlik was a god in the making. The tide would turn to Taylor’s favor & Pavlik was back in the doghouse. After the stoppage in the 9th…we had a new superstar of the middleweight division.

Oddly enough...this was the one that made me so irritated.

For years HBO's lap dog Merchant has been all up on Taylor. After the Hopkins bouts...he was sour with Taylor.

For years he was a huge supporter of Pavlik. He passed on that notion once the match up was made...maybe because of contractual agreements or grievances. Whatever they may be...he owned Taylor & after that...the commentators had an entirely different view of good ole' Kelly & Taylor was gutter worth after that.

Nice one wacko. I voted for Pavlik v Taylor. The main reason is that this fight introduced Pavlik to the world in a big way and may herald a new era for middle and super middle weights. The Calzaghe v Kessler fight was a close second due to the incredible performance of Joe. The Pavlik fight was "one for the ages" as I think cutmemick said, plenty of action between 2 great fighters.

It has to be Jermain Taylor vs Kelly Pavlik, that was one of the best Middleweight fights in a decade. I didn't expect Taylor to come out swinging like he did but he really went for broke, and it was a great back and forth war. Then to the shock of everyone Taylor stuns Pavlik with a right hand, then hits Pavlik with about 12 flush punches and floors him. Pavlik gets up but is badly stunned and is almost stopped, but he amazingly survived the 2nd round and we had more of the same a competitive back and forth war. Then the 7th round was just the icing on the cake with Pavlik stunning Taylor with two straight right hands, then Pavlik uses an excellent variety of punches from uppercuts, left hooks, right hooks, whilst Taylor is in the corner. And he just destroys Taylor it really was a dramatic fight. And like i've said before it marks the start of a new era in the Middleweight division, no disrespect to your boy Hopkins Wacko but most of his championship fights were boring to me, we haven't had an exciting Middleweight champion in years im just so glad i will be a part of the Kelly Pavlik era.

I generally don't mind the HBO team, but they do get under my skin enough. During the Miranda/Pavlik fight, Merchant was blatantly calling Steve Smoger incompetent for something he had no control over, which was getting the mouthpiece back into Miranda's mouth.

Usually though it is Lampley. I have always found him annoying and he loves to just fill the airwaves with his own voice, even when he decides to fill our ears with either inaccurate or obvious statistics.
