Default CutMeMick has done it YET AGAIN!!! (Erik Morales related)

I know this might sound a bit cliche however I feel it really describes my mind set.
When I set my mind to accomplishing something and I put forth an effort and really dedicate myself to it I can guarantee you that I accomplish it.
This did not necessairly start off that way but it quickly became a goal for me.

Back in 07 when I sat ringside for Izzy-Rafa 1 at the Home Depot Center, I reliazed Erik Morales was also ringside.
I made my way over to his side and managed to get a picture with him...

At that point in time I was happy with the picture and did not think nothing more of it. Izzy & Rafa went on to give us a thrilling fight that night where Rafa would come out victorious via TKO after Izzy could not continue. That same year 5 months later they did not dissapoint when they traveled to Texas and thrilled us yet again in a fire fight where Izzy was the winner.

The following year they brought the rubber match back to its origins and I could not miss the oppourtunity. I bought my tickets and by then I had bought some Everlast training gloves. I had started collecting some autographs so I knew I had to be ready. I took a pair and my sharpie ready. At the fight my 1st attempt was to get the great Julio Cesar Chavez to sign my glove but failed... My 2nd attempt came when Jack Nicholson & Sly Stallone stood side by side and I managed to get close to them but could not get them to sign it. As I drank my beer and watched the undercards I spotted MAB walking in thru a passage way on the side. I got up from my seat and made my way towards him as soon as he walked out I handed him my glove and the sharpie and he signed it.

At this point I was happy and had forgotten all about JCC, Jack & Sly.
Izzy and Rafa just picked right up where they had left off and I, well I broke my chair in excitement as Izzy would walk away with win in what was one for the ages...
I came home that night and put the glove away and figured what a great piece to add to my collection.

The following month in 08 JMM was set to fight Joel Casamayor and if it werent for Diane (whom I miss and is one of the greatest persons I've ever met online ) who sent me a PM asking me if I was set to attend the press conference since Sergio Mora would be there and that's her boy. I really didn't got with too much of a plan just to go and take pictures of the conference and hopefully get some close up pictures with some boxers.

Prior to the press conference I was talking to someone when I spotted JMM getting off his car and started walking our way. I pulled out the glove and asked him if he could please sign it, which he did.

When I got home though, something clicked and I said I have MAB and now JMM on the same glove. Pac is often here in LA since he trains here and I know someone who works there maybe I should set out and try and see if I can get him and who knows maybe one day I can also get Erik Morales if I ever see him again. Since at that point he was pretty much inactive/retired. I came on here to share pictures of the press conference that day and also my glove and I typed up this comment then:

Just 2 months later I manged to get myself into the Wild Card gym to see Pacquiao train for his bout vs. ODLH. With glove on hand and ready, my friend assured me that not only would I get my picture taken with him and have him sign my glove. He said you'll get to talk with him and ask him questions. Now keep in mind my friend works there but even then I figured it would be so packed and so much commotion that it would be too much. To my surprise not a lot of people were there and not only did I shake his hand, take pictures and had him sign my glove but we actually talked. I was introduced by my friend to him and he was real genuine and friendly.

I put my glove away and was really happy with it.

Fast forward to 2010 and by then Erik staged a comeback. I was gonna be in San Diego around the time he was set to fight Lorenzo. So I figured I would take the glove with me just in case there was any chance I could make the quick trip to Tijuana where the fight was gonna take place. No luck...
Fast forward to 2011 and I find out he will be in LA holding a press conference for his fight vs. Maidana to my luck that I had a meeting scheduled on the opposite side of Los Angeles where it would be impossible for me to get to. I was fooked! yet again.

Last week I read on fightnews that Erik would be here in LA again, this time for a press conference for his fight vs. Matthysse. I really did not plan on going, however I would be lying if I didn't say that it was in the back of my head all along. Woke up this morning and just figured I wasn't gonna go because it was gonna be mayhem there.
As it usually is whenever Erik and for that matter a GBP card is being held.
As I sat on the edge of my bed I told myself "Your gonna kick yourself in the ass later when you realize you let a perfect oppourtunity go to waste"
I got dressed went to my glove collection pulled the glove out of the case and put in a boxing everlast glove bag. Ran some erans around town and did not know what time the conference would take place but figured it would start between 12-1. I got there around 12:30 and Schaffer was on the mic talking up the crowd. I would guess roughly between 150-200 people were there. On stage Jessie Vargas, Josesito Lopez, Robert Alcazar & Erik Morales. By 2:00 o' clock Erik was giving his last media interview. I stood where I figured he would walk down to if he would come towards the fans. As I stood there 2 people asked me about my videos and pictures which they have seen online over the years. Its always fun to talk to people who recognize you and want to ask you about fighters. A few minutes later sure enough Erik starts walking down the stairs and towards us. I quickly realized that I wasn't prepared for this and I had broken a cardinal rule when going to events to get autographs. I forgot to grab one of probably 20 fucken sharpies (markers) I have allover my room which I take from work.
I said fuck it, he's gonna have a marker in hand so I'll just put my glove there and have him sign it. About 5/6 gloves and several pictures were quickly shoved in front of him as he signed 2 gloves he noticed the same guy was just pulling gloves out of a bag and just told him no more. I stuck my glove out and truthfully I put it in an angle where I figured he would not see that MAB, JMM and Pac had signed since I've been told he doesn't like signing items with MAB on them. Don't know if that's some story that might have take place back when the whole Erik-MAB battle was in full effect or some made up story.
When I stuck my glove out Erik with his hand pushed the glove down to see what was on the other side he looked at it and looked back up at me paused for possibly 2 seconds and just started signing it. I was like ohhhh! shit! as he signed it. I really thought he wasn't gonna sign it. Especially after he took the time to look on the other side of the glove. But he did... So it took me 3 years or so to do this.
Here it is ladies and gents. What I can only describe as a rare one of a kind glove.

Great story. I hope one day it turns into a Hollywood blockbuster.

Seriously though, fair play. That glove will be worth a fortune in a few years.

I was sent a signed glove from former British champion Tony Dodson the other day. Not quite as good a story but I'm pleased all the same.

Nice story, 4 of the greatest fighters ever at any weight have all signed that piece of leather and when they are all in the HOF it will be worth an absolute fortune no doubt, though to me it would be virtually priceless and I would not be selling it barring a ridiculous offer from someone like Bill Gates

Awesome story mate, and tell VD to hang on to his $500! I guess I need something similar with some of the Welsh guys on there. That'd be worth like at least a dollar right...
