Default Looks like Casamayor intends on Ducking his #1 contender

It sounds like Lightweight Champ, Joel Casamayor is going to duck the universally recognized #1 contender Nate Campell.

Campell showed up at the press conference to petition for a title shot and
Casamayor responded that he would rather fight Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales or current super featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao.

Can't say I blame him at this stage of his career, he wants the big money fights.

I've gotten to the point where this doesn't bother me nearly as much as it used to, maybe I've gotten cynical about this but of course he wants Manny Pac, its a no brainer.

Nate Campbell may be the right fight for boxing but Casamayor doesn't owe Nate Campbell anything at this moment and I'm fine with Casa going for the money.

I want a Katsidis rematch! Great back and forth action and if Kat hadn't gotten so overeager he may have gotten the KO himself. Casa is a ring genius, though. He knew all the tricks to survive and weathered a maelstrom.

I don't know about Morales and Barrera. But Pacquiao has already answered Casa's challenge...

NATE CAMPBELL: "BE A MAN AND FIGHT"

"Everybody wanna talk about fighting somebody else whenever my name is mentioned," stated WBA, IBF & WBO lightweight champion Nate Campbell as he made it perfectly clear that he wants to face his WBO mandatory challenger, linear lightweight champion Joel Casamayor, despite the fact that nobody is eager to mention his own name as a future opponent. Check out what he had to say about Casamayor, Pacquiao and more.

So since, Casamayor edged out a razor thin decision against Campell a few years ago, he can never be accused of ducking, and he never has to give Campell a shot at the title?

That doesn't make sense to me. If a champion refuses to fight #1 contender then he is ducking him; regardless of whether he has a decision win in the past.

I gotta say this isn't ducking.

Casa's not getting any younger here he want's cash.... He'll get it.

Theres 2 top names that want what he has.
Pac and MAB both those names will bring him the cash he want's.

Maybe you are right; but for the sake of boxing, I think giving Campell a shot would be the best thing to do.

I say he is close to the end of his career. If he sticks around long enough to make a couple big money fights first, then sure give both Campbell and Katsidis another shot afterwards.

Pac wants to capture a title at Lightweight something tells me he'll do that against David Daiz.
I think MAB will get his shot at Casa, MAB wants to accomplish something Erik couldn't do.

I agree from the boxing aspect of it he should fight Nate but it doesn't have to be now. If he wins his next fight then he should fight Nate but not now. Remember he's got 9 mouths to feed (Casa).

Casamayor knows that his days as a fighter are just about up and he wants to spend those last days getting the shots he deserved when he was younger.

Him vs Pac would be a good fight, if Casamayor doesn't stand in front of him and Pac seems to be counter punchable lately, Casa could give a good effort.

Someone I'd love to see him fight is Marquez, because that would be a boxing lover's dream fight to see the chess match those two would have against each other
