    Default Heavy Metal the movie

Does anyone remember this movie? I vaguely recall it but watching the South Park 'Major Boobage' episode got me wondering about it again.

I know BoxingGorilla probably has seen it or owns it on DVD but hell just looking at the people in the movie is really crazy, John Candy, Eugene Levy, hell it's like ALL of SCTV. And it's all hand drawn and has some bad ass music in it.

I was debating buying it but I highly doubt I will watch a lot of it because it's sophmoric plotline and dialogue....it's simply a movie made for young teenagers and stoners and people who enjoy horrible movies (like myself).

Here's the trailer and some other clips...

BUY IT . If it means enough to ask the question than you pretty much have the answer ?It's a cult classic and much more of an adult movie than kids. The Stoner part I plead the 5th on .Stay away from that crap remake from a few years ago.It had alot of social commentary and was spawned from the 70's Sci-fi Magazine of the same name.I first saw this thanks to my sisters waaay back and they actually got in deep S!!! for letting me watch it.yeah,It was twisted and for a certain taste but it is before its time Imo.I loved it,great voice overs and casts and The "green orb" ties each story line together.Think they actually rated it X at first.looking back with all the cgi and advancements in technology it may look very dated but at the time when it debuted.....It was premier.Great sound track as well. Also One of my early animated favs of that era was "American pop".Pretty dark storyline on different family generation's.

Thanks for the response, I'm still debating it though...I have Teen Wolf on the way as we speak , I own it on VHS but never got around to buying it on DVD until recently

As for Heavy Metal I was just trying to remember all the stories, I kind of remember the Loc Nar (green ball thingy) and maybe the Taxi Cab story but the other ones I am not sure I remember, I might rent it before I buy it.

Those dudes from South Park just have the most off the wall ideas, I am sure it helped sell a couple hundred copies of Heavy Metal already

This movie was great it was one of the first adult cartoons, I liked the one with the WWII fighter plane. Bruce Willis was also a voice in the first story. Soundtrack was total buttrock though...

Bruce Willis isn't in the movie, I just checked IMDB

However the "Harry Canyon" story is similar to "The Fifth Element"
