I've been noticing as i've been going around the forums, that this crap is really starting to get out of hand and turn this forum into flame warfare that isn't what saddoboxing should be known as.
You got trolls, biased fans making statements out there, and you got people that immediately mark someone with a differing opinion as someone who doesn't know jack about boxing.
So I decided to make this post and hopefully it will be made a sticky.
But we as boxing fans need to realize that it isn't all about us. That our opinion isn't the be all and end all of an argument. And just because a few people agree with what we say doesn't give us the right to shoot down someone else with a differing opinion.
This has never been more evident then with the recent calzaghe hopkins threads I see around here.
You got people making threads against Joe and threads against Hopkins. You got people saying Hopkins was exposed and Joe was exposed.
PEOPLE, it was a fight. and it's over now. Why are we still living in saturday? We have to move on.
Neither fighter's career is tarnished by that performance, let it go. Personally, I felt Hopkins won, but I'm fine with Calzaghe having the victory because they both fought their butts off and deserve to be respected and both fought the fight they wanted to fight at different times of the fight. You saw the brilliance of Hopkins and the adaptation skills of Calzaghe and they both stepped their games up given the circumstances, respect it and move on.
Now with all the threads going around, we have trolls going around saying all this ridiculous stuff and you got threads being made by people which turn into flame wars or seem just like a garner for attention.
Yet if someone challenges them on the spot for their opinion, do we get a good debate on both sides trying to make an argument? No, we get "Just because you picked Hopkins shows you know f*ck all about boxing."
If you are brave and courteous enough to put your own opinion out there, you should also be willing to accept other's on the case as well. They don't have your eyes, your head and in some ways your bias, so they have the right to see a fight how they want to see it as long as they are being honest about it and aren't just saying something with the intention of pissing you off.
If you say an opinion be prepared to deal with someone disagreeing, and when someone disagrees don't respond by flaming and crap like that, at least back up your case and allow them to back up there's, because you lose all legitimacy by stooping to a lower level and it makes it appear like it's all you were there for, and then what could have been a good post, turns into a flame war post and you know what, those are the posts that seem to be viewed the most and thats why it has to come to a stop.
The whole internet sports community, boxing in one side, is seen as just a bunch of biased fools who toot their horn about their fighters and can't take a loss and other's who throw down on another fighter's loss for the chance to say they were "exposed" ultimately taking credit away from the fighter they want to build up for beating him, and it has to stop.
Case in point, if you put your opinion out there, accept the fact that people are gonna disagree. If you're just putting it out there to flame people who disagree with you, then whats the point of putting it there? It doesn't help you, and it doesn't help the community in this site as a whole.
So as a message to all you boxing fans. Learn to accept other people's opinions and hopefully, ultimately we'll clean up this site to the way it used to be.
I'm Majesty, and thats my opinion.
