Default Mike McCallum Vs Julian Jackson - Great Fight

One of my favorites ever just found it on Youtube. Brutal fight this is McCallum just entering his prime imo. He was from a different planet, is there a more brutal body attack in all of boxing history? I don't know if you can convince me otherwise he just went to the body with every opportunity, great stuff.

Great fight I know the stoppage is a bit controversial but I don't got much of a problem with although it seemed Jackson had survived the worst of it by the time it was stopped.

I've seen this fight plenty of times probably the two best Jr Middleweights to face eachother in the modern era. This fight proves to me how underrated McCallum is, too take flush punches off Jackson who is one of the hardest hitting fighters of all time and then comeback in the next round is something special.

McCallum also gave prime Roy Jones Jr few problems as well while being 39 years old. McCallum was one of the toughest SOB's in boxing and also had one of the most brutal body attacks ever as evident in that clip. You should also check out McCallum's KO of Donald Curry that was one of the best left hooks your ever see.

I've seen most everything from McCallum I used to have his DVD set on my comp and read a ton of stuff on him, one of my favorites and you are right, one of the most underrated fighters. It's to bad he tried to chase Hagler he never got the right break. He almost got the Curry fight twice, didn't and Lloyd Honneyghan got it the second time and lost his huge defining fight.

He also gave Toney a great fight the first time around but was just no match for Toney who had size and speed on him. Still made Toney sweat though.

I think what hurt McCallum regarding the big fights against the fab 4, was that he lost to Kalamby, that set him back at least a year and a half. Regarding Toney vs McCallum as i remember it was pretty even until last 3 rounds where Toney took over, that was for certain a gift draw for McCallum, but Toney also got a gift decision in there rematch which i thought McCallum won so go figure.

I think one of his most complete performances was against Michael Watson, i believe Watson was the betting favorite over in the UK, and he was on a high after beating Nigel Benn, but McCallum just took Watson apart and he made Watson look like he shouldn't even be in the same ring as him, and the KO was pretty devastating as well.

I thought Jackson was gonna finish him in 1, but hell nah! Mike turned that shit around quickly.

Mikes def. underrated, under appreciated and he was def. avoided by all.

amat, in regards to the body attack possibly JCC, Cotto & Olivares were all just as good as Mike at killing the body.

McCallum is one of those guys who lived up to his nickname. Bodysnatcher. That name fit like a glove on him.

Mike McCallum was a fighter I got into after he beat my favourite fighter Herol Graham. He was such a quality fighter beautiful jab and vicious body shots with a granite chin.

He said he wanted to out box Julian Jackson but when Jackson came out swinging and nearly took his head off he had to do the same.

Also remember the Toney fights and I thought he won the first two.

Remember seeing Watson's face after the first round where he could hardly breath after taking vicious body shots and welcomed him to true world class.

He was called the body snatcher in the Kronk gym after they saw him sparring. Manny set up Duran for Hearns when Mike McCallum should have been his next fight.

Everyone deserted him after he lost to Kalambay eg Duvas but he got his revenge over him later.

He also put one last great show in beating Jeff Harding at light heavy, pure class who I could watch all day.
