    Default What a fight!!!

So last night we got together at one of my aunts house mainly family with a couple of friends. We made shrimp & fish ceviche and hung out we played some cards then I remembered Holt vs. Torres was gonna be on Showtime, then one of my cousins remembered there was some UFC on.
    So we ordered the UFC.

One of my cousins friend was being loud and walking around saying Rampage was kick some ass and Rampage was gonna beat Griffin and he kept slamming hist hat down on the floor. Finally it kinda pissed me off and me being the gambler that I am I stood up and reached in my wallet and said I don't follow UFC or anything so I see this fight pretty even to me. He started laughing when I said that he went balistic. He was like "Pretty even?" Rampage has almost twice as many wins, he hasn't lost in like 7 fights straight and he just went on and on... Then I said well with all that being said heres 100 dlls. that says Griffin wins. He started laughing and said OK, I'll gladly take your money. Took out 100 dlls. placed them on the table and it was on. We shook hands and well you guys know how the fight went.

I'm just a damn! gambler and I like betting now. I got a question for you guys that follow UFC. Was this a smart bet or was this just a lucky night?

In my mind I figuered Griffins reach and his heart were giving the edge. I felt he would be able to pressure Rampage enough to edge out the win.
When the 1st round was over I felt Griffin was gonna get sparked out. Rampage dropped him with a sweet upper cut.
Then round 2 came on and I was allover the place yelling.
I can't believe Griffin had Rampage in trouble soo many times.

All in all it was a really good fight and both guys showed a lot of class in their post interviews.

In a way it was a lucky bet you made. I thought Rampage would beat him badly and seal the deal in the 3rd round. Forrest likes to take too much damage and that's a dangerous game to play with Rampage. But people forget Forrest is a game, game guy and won't quit and keeps pressure on. I still thought he would lose, but it's not shocking he didn't.

I almost bought the fight but was so sure of the outcome I didn't and ended up doing a RBR for Holt fight. Almost wish I had ordered the fight. This fight right here will give Forrest so much confidence now, I see him being a guy who will be tough to beat now. I would actually favor Forrest now in a rematch.

It was a great fight for sure. I thought Rampage would get to Griffin in the late rounds, I didn't think Forrest would be able to take his power.

But he has adapted his style in recent fights. He used to just go toe to toe and slug it out but since his KO loss to Jardine he's been fighting a lot smarter.

I wouldn't have given him any chance had he not stunned everyone by stopping Shogun who came to the UFC expecting to be the next UFC champ.

You had to respect Forrest after that fight but even so I didn't really think he'd be able to beat Rampage who had dominated two straigh all time greats in Liddel and Henderson.

I imagine they will get a rematch on and really it's a 50/50 fight imo.

Forrest is better than Rampage on the ground and those leg kicks were sick, but Rampage has much more power and if he lands it's good night Forrest Griffin.

I'm not sure Griffin could manage to stay away from him 10 full rounds though so I'll say Rampage KO's him in the rematch to set up a trilogy.

Great win for Forrest though and he's one of the most likeable fighters in either MMA or boxing so I'm pleased for him.

Rampage showed how to take defeat with pure class, still smiling and admitting that he got his ass whupped, I must admit I'm a huge Rampage fan, he must be one hell of an uplifting and fun guy to be around.

He's one of the few good looking, rich, ultra successful, heavily fancied and muscular men that I don't envy and want to see get kicked into the ground.

He manages to still be likeable even to someone as naturally bitter and jealous as I am

Im convinced Forrest Griffin and Librado Andrade were seperated at birth.

Hey Mick,Did you catch the Torres/Holt fight at all?Thats was one to see live for sure .Don't blink!

Also,Griffin and Jackson have more Skill in there profession than the 'wanna be' Kimbo could ever dream of from what Ive seen.

He wasn't my friend he was my cousins friend.
When Rampage knocked him down he kept screaming it's over it's over.
Just one more shot and it's over!!!!
I thought Griffin was fighting the wrong fight trying to go toe to toe.
But hell he pulled it off.

As the scores were being announced he was pretty confident that since Rampage was the champ that he would either get the close knod or a Draw.
He was dissapointed and got pretty drunk, I immidiately left when the fight was over.

    Good stuff Bilbo...
For some reason I think Griffins got Rampages number and I'd favor Grifffin in a rematch.

We did see the Holt vs. Torres fight.
I switched it to the Showtime channel as Griffin was walking in.
Fight only lasted as long as the walk ins...

Everyone went crazy there at the house...

Good for you Mick. Good bet I say. Irish music reminded me of snatch..never trust a pikey..
I would have had money that way too.
Could of gone either way for a while and both guys had questions in their minds implanted by the other later on ,so they did what they could.
Best man won. Both are great men.

I must bore you technically now .
If Forrest had fought nose to nose he would of got mashed.

I was egging Forrest to change feet in the last round, maybe lead with his right stronger and faster leg and right arm at a closer distance; from out front and closer to the mark he could of stopped Rampage via the knee.
He was lucky or good enough earlier that Rampages knee was sore enough that those front weaker slower left kicks still had him worried enough about moving into his prefered arm distance.
Rampage was thinking in two places at once because of that knee.
They were both slowing in the final round and knew a mistake could cost them everything.
I recon Forrest would have stopped him if his right leg landed on it from in a shorter distance and with weight comming down, he could land it down with a right lead jab or a cross from over Rampages left side ..Rampage would of been gutted cause Rampage couldnt turn to face him on that leg at that stage and Forrest would be away from Rampages arms. He could of even jumped into a double armed neck grab but landed his foot on his knee from the outside with full weight.

To do all that in ultimate perfection you would switch around his left lead arm as he came forward and then land on his knee with your shin so you cant miss from the outside of the knee, just as his left foot touched the ground. Its a break or dislocate and a take down.

He'll win next time too so long as he doesnt think I'll prove Im best at his own game.

just watched the fight.. was a good one, and both guys showed GREAT class after the fight.. excited for the rematch..

even though Forrest won this fight, i still think i'd favor rampage in a rematch simply because he's just too powerful.. Forrest was lucky he was able to survive 25 minutes without getting KO'd, and it will be VERY hard for him to do that again.. I agreed with the decision of a UD victory for Griffin, but i really didn't think Rampage took too much punishment, in fact Griffin took much more physical damage..
