    Default Nutrition?

Hi, I would like to get into boxing(just train, no pro or anything), and I would like to know some foods that are good to eat, I have been drinking alot of water, I haven't drinked any soda for like 3 weeks and I plan to keep it like this, but I know I have to ditch food like mc donalds. So what would you guys reccomend me to eat?

    Thanks

Not sure about your weight or goals... but assuming you are going for a lean, trim body... I'll tell you some of the foods that I eat to maintain myself as a welterweight.

Rice (the good stuff, not the stuff that has been bleached and refined)
Lean Meat (poultry, some pork, fish, sea food) - I like shrimp and salmon *stay away from breaded stuff!
    Tons of fruits and veggies
Fruit/Vegetable juice (Real 100% juice... no sugar added stuff)
    Oatmeal
    Skim milk
Salads (eat a salad before dinner, and you will probably eat less of the weight gaining stuff)
Eggs (light on salt, and light on butter for toast)

Try to eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day rather than 3 big ones.
Try not to eat anything 2-3 hours before bed.
If you can, start your day off with a jog.
Try to accompany veggies with your meals that include meat.
Allow yourself to let loose once in a while and have a day or meal where you eat whatever you damn well please!

This is what works for me... just remember to keep up a good excerise routine!

    Hope this helps.

5'5 1/2 and 125 is a good place to be my man. I bulked myself up to 158 a while ago and sure I could lift heavier weights, but my punch wasn't much harder and my stamina suffered. I would recommend being as fit as you can be at your natural weight.

    Just my opinion.

That's good to hear that this is a good place to be.
Also, currently my waist is like 29" around, do you think I can get a six pack like this or would I have to loose more weight?

I barely started to work on my abs like 2 weeks ago, but I don't know if I have to loose more fat from my stomach or will I get visible abs if I keep working on them?

    Thanks

Yeah your abs will show based on your diet... your abs will get stronger and harder by working on them.

    I'm 5'9 1/2, 140 some odd pounds and have a 26 or 27 inch waiste.

i went from 140-200 in almost 5 years now and I got a lot stronger. If you didnt get stronger you were not training correctly..

I didn't say I never got stronger... my punch never got that much stronger. Punching power can be improved... but a puncher is born a puncher. I can't say I was blessed with the quickest feet... but I am one of those that punch unusually hard for his size.

I could lift a hell of a lot more weight when I was 158 and focusing on weights. That weight just wasn't natural for me though and my stamina suffered... and plus I gave up the reach advantage that I often have.

Many boxers don't use weights at all in their program... they aren't necessary at all.

well... im 5'8'' and 200 lbs... obviously i'll be fighting cruiser weight .. My trainer actually wants to get me at 210-215... so i will be fighting tall people and I believe if i get strong as my weight will allow me i think it will help me tremendously for being an inside fighter. I understand boxing isnt about being amazing strong, but it helps.

Same here. I use to play body shots with some guys that were taller then me and they never were able to beat me, plus I kinda know how to hit, I've seen alot of people fight and they just throw punches like dumbasses.
