    Default Luis Collazo WBC #1

    Monday, July 21 2008

The camp of WBC #1 welterweight Luis Collazo is protesting against the proposed WBC welterweight title eliminator request by Promoter Rodney Berman between Isaac Hlatshwayo and Jackson Osei Bonsu. "We are formally requesting that WBC #1 ranked Luis Collazo be named as the mandatory challenger to fight Andre Berto for the WBC welterweight title," wrote Collazo's manager Nirmal Lorick to WBC President Jose Sulaiman and the WBC Board of Governors. "If for any reason the board does not mandate Collazo as the mandatory challenger we should, at the least, be the first considered in any discussions in reference to any upcoming eliminator bouts. Luis is able and available to fight anyone in an eliminator for the mandatory position.

Yo i know i talk Lou Collazo alot cause thats my man..

But you know this is some bs..

Nobody wants to see two no named ass fighters fight an eliminator only for one of those fools to go head and fight berto and get ko'd..

Shit Berto needs to step it up and berto was fighting better guys before he landed this vacant title and they werent being given any title shots to get knocked out for..

Cheek of the fact that ok on one hand lets make a wbc title fight..

But first lets not let berto take his mandatory.. who is better then any other he has ever fought which of course is not your typical mandatory fighter..

so lets make an eliminator.. Which they just strait out miss out the man who is number one and stick a couple dudes with no contention in for it..

at least stick Lou in the fricken eliminator.. He'll fight either guy.. hes ready.. hasnt fought in a while but has been in several fighters training camps.. and he'l beat either guy.. offer him up the higher ranked guy.

Cant disagree with this shit as far as mandatories go..

Collazo vs. Bert would be a very good fight.

He deserves another shot. Been pretty unlucky in the past.

the funniest thing about this story is that Collazo is the WBC #1 contender, yet those crooks were going to sell the right to fight in an eliminator to fight berto to two different fighters.

    The WBC is shameless.

    You mean Tito?

I think Collazo-Berto should happen at some point. It's a fight that makes to much sense for everyone involved not to happen and would be a very intriguing fight.

If Berto-Collazo comes off it should tell us a lot about Berto...

Really odd. He was #1 and the WBC was willing to bypass him without even a second glance.

    Shameless is right.

That is exactly why I feel the fight should be made.
Berto is a young naturally gifted athlete. This far, his pohysical abilitoes have allowed him to cruise to victory and although he has shown heart in some cases he has never truely had a gritty learning fight.
So although his physicality has been developed to near perfection, he may still be lacking in terms of ring craft and expierience.

Luis Collazo is his near polar opposite. A fighter never particularly blessed with power or strength his game is founded upon a solid foundation of skill and intellect. Whether by his corner or his own mind his fight plan is well thought out and executed, making him an extremely awkward fighter. His own flaw may be his work ethic. In terms of mavement and defence he is consistant, but in some fights he has a horrible tendnacy of dropping his output completely. However in fights such as Mosely and Hatton he illustrated that even whilst not punching he is an illusive target and a difficult man to pin down.

The matchup itself will be similar to every other Collazo fight. The opponent (BVerto) attempting to pin Collazo 9n order to land consistently, Collazo attempting to evade and counter.
But the real exciting aspect is Berto. Will he learn as the fight develops, adjust to Collazo's awkwardness and better himself as a fighter, or will he fail to solve the puzzle.

This fight is exactly the fight Berto needs and exactly the fight Luis wants.

I wouldnt be surprised if Collazo won a close decision. It will tell us alot about Berto.I would be impressed if Berto managed to stop Collazo.
