Default Personal sayings or words you live by...

Often situations confront you that can easily turn into a big mess, and you can throw so much thought and angst into it.. But usually there is a very simple way of looking at things that will take so much of the crap out of the situation..

    1. So often I hear people get tied up in gigantic knots about how the government/parliament/presidential/Politician type decision makers are constantly doing things to make their life hard... Making decisions that make it impossible for them to ever make money etc... And I admit that I have been guilty of this.. I used to be quite passionate about blaming the government for many things, and occasionally still do get pissed off at some of the disgusting and horrible decisions politicians make..
But this is my saying for this one that puts it into perspective...

"The choices that YOU make yourself, have a million times more impact on your life than any decision a politician could ever make"

And it's true.. I can agree that some decisions they make can definetly make life harder for people, and certainly not help them.. But YOU will always have a thousand times more power over your life than they do.. One person can make an entire success of themselves, and another a complete failure, while both being subject to the exact same political circumstances and decisions... I've realised blaming the government takes so much power out of your own hands that it's just ridiculous..

    2. My other favourite is pretty simple... It just relates to when something crap has happened at work or whatever and you're thinking about it at home..
"You can spend 2 minutes worrying about something, or 2 hours.. But if you're not changing the problem, then it is just a total waste.. And you DO have the choice how long you spend worrying about something. "
I see this so often with my girlfriend.. Someone does something to her unfair at work, and she'll spend hours and hours and hours literally playing the whole situation over and over. Working out how someone could do such a thing etc. And yes, they were unfair and sometimes just downright cunty and disgusting... Even I agree with that.. But all the worrying in the world doesn't change what happened... All it means is she's spent the whole entire night pissed off about something... It's a huge waste...

Having the choice of what to think about is probably the biggest power we have as an individual person... And it's easy and almost addictive to jump on the treadmill of thinking about stuff that pisses us off and makes us mad, and is hard to get off once you start.. But it's one of the biggest and worst ways to waste your life and energy....
