I think his currently our best ref, I especially liked him in the cotto margarito match. He did his job but played no part of the outcome.
What you guys think? or Who you think is the best ref right now?

I think Bayless is the best ref out there right now followed closely by Smoger...
I have yet to see Bayless call a bad fight. He's an outstanding ref. He really gets in to it. You can tell he loves being a ref. I don't blame him
Yeah, he get's real into it.
It's great seeing him ref.
He did a great job on Hatton-Malignaggi too.
I think Smoger is still the best, Kenny Bayless a close second. With Mickey Vann third.
anyone but Joe Cortez![]()
Bayless and Smoger are great refs...
Anyone think Smoger lets fights go too long (when one fighter is taking too much of a beating?)...I think he does a good job...if I was in there fighting I would rather take a few extra shots and know I was done than have the fight stopped too early and forever think I had a chance....It is a fine line and I am not a pro boxer so I cant speak from experience..
Obviously I wouldnt want anyone to get hurt....
Tony Weeks is as solid as a ref IMO... But love how Bayless calls a fight as well
My personal favorite thing about Bayless is if you get knocked down, he yells the count loud as hell right into your face with a cold hard stare...
Bayless is alright but I have seen him stop a few prematurely. Unfortunitely often nerves gets the better of them in big fights.
If I remember right he had a bad night in one of the T. Norris-Luis Santana bouts.

Than again it's often better they stop it prematurely than too late. As long as it's not too favour the big name fighter, who's just managed to get in his first decent flurry. I've seen a few of those in domestic fights, most recently in Ricky Burns' last fight.
I would still go with Smoger as the best, closely followed by Bayless & Tony Weeks. Lefty mentions Mickey Vann, but I've felt he's a bit too partial to Frank Warren's fighters a lot of the time
