Default Is this for real, Sergio Mora is fighting Kelly Pavlik?

It was on the Steve Bunce show yesterday, that Mora is fighting Pavlik in July according to Pavlik's promoter Bob Arum.

What the hell is Sergio thinking? I like Mora but he has no chance against Pavlik, he doesn't even have a punchers chance.

I thought Pavlik was fighting Duddy which was bad enough but Mora is a mismatch.

all but a done deal it seems

Kelle Sauerland was on bunces show yesterday confirming that his next fight will indeed be in america and possibly on the pavlik undercard.

Also said they made a 3million ($5million dollars) offer for pavlik on the table to have a unification match which kelly refused as he is holding out for more.

Mora is taylor made for pavlik who should be able to just pummel him whenever in range. But if Abraham is also gonna be on the card it suggests that this is pretty much both guys working up a bit of heat before fighting at the end of the year!

I think Mora will be awkward for a few rounds, harder to hit than duddy.

Abraham V Pavlik would be great, Arthur will be happy to absorb the shots on his guard and wait for openings and wont have to go chasing like his last opponent.

Sauerland said Abraham definitely wont be on Pavlik's undercard.

Interesting that he said Mora was refused as an opponent for Abraham stateside... especially considering some of the no-names Abraham fights.

Pavlik's mob look to be getting a few wins out of him before he's risked up in class again. Good thinking.. it wont be long before he's beaten again.

Though I don't think Sergio will win I ould not count him out as that much of a mis-mtch, I think for as long as he last he will be tricky for Kelly...

Sergio is not a hard hitter so he certainly hs no punchers chnce and I really am not too certain about his chin because I never seen him get cracked by someone who hits as hard as Kelly does but Sergios style will keep Kelly working

Yes, it's true. I heard from Sergio yesterday, and he's excited as hell about it, because he has wanted this fight for long time.

Kelly signed off on the deal yesterday, and the official announcement should be coming out soon. It will be July 18th, in Atlantic City.

I know that everyone will say he has no chance, but I think he'll do alot better than people will give him credit for.

I actually think he can win this on points. He'll have to fight smart, but Sergio has a way of stepping up for those big fights, so I hope that this is one of those occasions.

    I am disappointed in Pavlik.

His first three defences have been absolutely awful.

Hopefully he steps up after this.

Pavlik is taking a page from Taylor's book....When things got rough Taylor fought a couple junior middleweights, the problem is with slick fighters like Ouma, Spinks and Mora it is hard to look good.

Fight may not be as easy as you would think.

You are right. Kelly could become distracted by a ring girl between rounds and WHAM Mora hits him with a flurry of devestating punches. Kelly will be so dismayed by this that he will act like a frieghtened quail in the talons of a big fuck-off eagle. He will try to punch off the back foot, BUT NO, Mora will be all over him--WHAM WHAM WHAM. Slow motion shot showing Pavlik sweat being knocked off of him. THe ringside band will be so into the action that they will begin playing a tuba, brass, and drum version of "Eye of the Tiger."
Then Kelly will try to come back, but his spirit has been broken by this man. Kelly will be slumped up in a pile when they hoist Mora up in victory.

Yeah, dream the fukk on hooker.

I agree with you. It is fathomable that Mora pulls it out on points because as you alluded to he is deceptively tricky. On the other hand, because he has the Magic Man problem in that he has no power at all, it is more likely that Pavlik will cut off the ring and figure him out. The fight is also in AC, which is not neutral territory. Mora will have to do a lot to take a decision from Pavlik in AC. Moreover, the fight is at 160 and Mora is a natural 154 fighter. My prediction is Mora makes it tricky for 5-7 rounds and then Pavlik takes over and knocks him out in the later rounds.

This is a more difficult fight than a fight with John Duddy. Duddy is tailor-made for Pavlik moreso than Mora. Mora is awkward and Duddy comes right at you - and cuts easily.

I am disappointed with the whole middleweight division recently. Abraham fights nobodys. Sturm fights nobodys (for the most part) and no one wants to unify. Pavlik really has fought the toughest competition at middleweight, but his defenses have been against nobodys. I guess at least Pavlik took a risk and fought Hopkins, but that was outside of the middleweight division so it doesn't really count. You are right, however, the division is pretty disappointing.

Well I have to be honest I don't see any way Sergio can win this fight. He was basically bullied into submission by a nearly 40 year old junior middle in Vernon Forrest last time out I think he will just find Pavlik relentless who to me at least looked very impressive in breaking down a normally tough and durable Marco Antonio Rubio.

BUT I know you like him and I like you so I will join you on fight night hooting and a hollering, maybe even a yipping and a yelping for Sergio to pull off a shock somehow win the title

Yeah to be fair I will be cheering for Mora to pull the upset. But I always do for the easy defenses.

Agree, Personally, I don't give him much chance against Abraham, a guy with as much thunder in the punches as him, faster and a better defense... and we've seen that Abraham has a good chin and is normally hard to knock out.

Actually, Sergio is a natural middleweight, most of his fights have been at middeweight. The only fights he had at jr middleweight were against Forrest, and a couple early in his career, because it's not easy for him to make the jr middleweight limit.

I dont think there is much of a chance of Mora KO'ing Pavlik, but if Mora moves alot and decides to play the hit and run game it could be an ugly fight......I can see Pavlik having a hard time finding Mora with his punches.
