    Default Pacquiao vs. Mayweather:Proposed Solution

I gave him a chance, up to 14 days out. But my new terms are all the way up to the fight. They can come get us whenever, all the way up to the fight, random drug test. That’s what it is…
    --Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“There is no reason to think my fighter is dirty,” We have passed every test ever given to us.”

    --Freddie Roach

By now I am just plain sick of all the talk surrounding the PEDS issue and the attendant testing controversy. It’s been going on ad nauseam and it’s time these guys stepped up to the plate. Speaking of “these guys,” both continue to cherry pick. One dos it by choosing his opponents carefully, the other by using long intervals between fights. One does it better than the other. However, in so doing, they avoid one another and that’s not what the fans want.

Some say Mayweather reportedly wants his own version of testing, which is different from the USADA version, but Mayweather’s version has not been disclosed by his camp. Thus, these same people say this might have been one of the reasons Pacquiao has been reticent to fight. As best as I could make it out, both fighters had reached an understanding on a 14-day window during the talks, but this changed so that the tests now need to be done all the way up to the day of the fight. It kind of boils down to he said, I said. But I do understand what offer random, Olympic style blood testing is all about.

In this connection, I don’t buy is Manny’s claim that rrandom blood testing is impractical and dangerous, particularly if it is conducted within days of the actual fight. Losing blood so close to fight time can weaken a fighter. That’s pure hogwash. However, I do buy the argument that Pacquiao should not be mandated to be subjected to unprecedented blood testing procedures when he’s been clean on all tests mandated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission just because Mayweather want him to. At the end of the day, Mayweather is not a Boxing Commission.

Importantly, prior to his beat down, Sugar Shane Mosley agreed to undergo random blood and urine testing in his fight against Floyd. But this is not about PEDS or testing; this is about a way to make the BIG fight happen.

    A Proposed Solution

Manny Pacquiao should graciously offer random, Olympic style blood testing for his contest with the very same Sugar Shane Mosley. By doing so, he immediately turns the tables on those who say he is making excuses or even worse. Let’s face it, there were “suspicions” that arose when Manny refused to engage full random testing, though there was and is absolutely no reason to believe that Pac Man was guilty of any wrongdoing—nor has one shred of evidence ever been produce to indicate as much. How better, then, to remove those suspicions (lingering or otherwise) than by offering the very strictest testing terms out there against Mosley?

Then and assuming like most observers that Manny beats Sugar Shane, Pac Man can step up and require Floyd Mayweather Jr. to do the same. Now the leverage shifts to Manny and the onus to fight falls on Junior. Manny saves face (and preserves his great legacy without any question marks attached to it) and Floyd Junior gets the fight for which he allegedly has been clamoring. Oh yes, each combatant also gets 25 million and we the fans get what could well be the fight of the century.

    Let’s do it.

    Agreed,

However, if both fighters are doing the same testing, then wouldnt both of them be equally endangered because of the loss of blood?

Didn't NSAC called USADA style of testing inadequate? Lol Didn't they have court hearing about this?

It's not the amount of blood that NSAC worried about. It's the actual vein poking.. minutes, or hours before the fight that they're concern about.

Give it up. Mayweather will find excuse after another just to avoid Pac.

THey aren't retarded, they didn't even test Mayweather or mosley within like 3 weeks of the fight. And so what if a needle goes into a vein? The blood loss would be minimal even for a fighter trying to lose weight which is what Mosley not Pacquiao would be doing. In fact Mosley said during the 24/7 that it would have been easier for him to take a blood test instead of a urine test before he headed to vegas. That was because he was pretty dehyrdated.

I disagree, as it's been said Pac many times has a problem and really dislikes needles. Mayweather doesn't at all, and while it isn't a hugely big deal everyone is different and bodies/minds react differently.
And now with all the hype and press around it, there would be the whole mental disadvantage.

It's silly, they should just get on with it.

I believe Arum, Roach and Pacman already told everybody that they are willing to do Blood test if NSAC or the State sanctioning commission will impose it, and not just because someone will put it on the terms of the fight, just like what Money May wanted to do. NSAC stood by its regulation not to do blood testing for any of it commissioned fights, thats where when USADA came into picture.

Pacman camp then agreed for the USADA-imposed tests but they asked for a window of originally 24 days. Mayweather then asked it to be 14. The talks collapse then.
On the 2nd negotiation, pacman and his camp already agreed to do the test inside the 14 day window which Money May asked for, but this time Money is asking tests up to the fight.

Looking at what happen to Mosley and Money, they never had test inside 3 weeks.

I think Pacman should take the test for the sake of making this fight happen.
But I do not think Mayweather will stop there. He will ask for insane demands that will eventually kill the fight. With all the criminal cases being lined up to him, I guess he had all the exits secured. He can stay out of pacman fight and be able to make an argument about his "greatness"

    No he will not!

The glove size could be a pontential problem too. I see Floyd demanding big supersoft type of gloves for his girlie brittle hands.

I do agree, Money always use a sizable pair of gloves, for two reasons I think: 1. they protect floyd's hands from his recurring injury. There were news they usually numb it with a pain reliever too. 2. those huge gloves can help floyd to cover his face. When he roll that shoulder he always keeps his hand on his chin and the other hand down for an impending counter punch. That adds up to his defense I guess.

    Who cares! ?

If it's not testing, it's "Money", if it's not the Money, it's the "Venue", If it's not the venue, it's an "Injury", If it's not an injury, it's "______" fill in the blank. "It goes on and on and on, on and on." it's like a fuk'n rap song.....

This drama will not be over, even when the signature is on the bottom line. They are both drama queens and attention whores. The only difference between the two is their character. One is humble about it while the other is boastful. The crap is so thick, even a mask won't help.

    There ain't no solution!

I do disagree with one thing. The "Losing blood so close to fight time can weaken a fighter. That’s pure hogwash" .Statement. I have had first hand and I know people in my family who have been given blood tests and for a few days after you feel weaker than you normally would. I am not saying sick as a dog and not able to move but you just do not feel 100%. There I can give Pacquiao the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, understood, but the same holds true for both fighters. It's a level playing field in more ways than one, but your point is a good one.

Great point. Also, is that Art Serwanno whose eyes rolled back into his head? Good God, that's scary.
