Nice article, both Cotto and Pacquiao deserve to be paid to the maximum for this ring nuclear war. No doubt, another mega fight/mega outcome type of a duel!

I do not believe it. Cotto must demand at least 50/50, his ego would not allow it. Oh that is Mayweather who would not allow it.

If that is the split and Pacquiao is supposedly getting $12 million, then doing the math Cotto would be getting ~$6.5 Million.

I read Cotto's biggest purse was $3.2 million against Shane Mosley.

It's an excellent deal for Pac and not too shabby for Cotto too being that Pac is the much bigger draw. I'll be watching it.

I hope that this fight happens on schedule.

Is Manny that much bigger of a draw? I think if Cotto had foughten Hatton and ODLH he would have been just as popular, oh well, I don't see the fireworks some people are seeing, I just can't see Roach allowing this to be a slugfest, I see him making Manny fight as safely as possible, and I see Manny excuting that very well.

How in hell is this happening

Cotto is just playing dumb, it's his belt, he's the champion being challenge. He agreed with 145lbs instead of 147 and now 65% / 35%

    What a onesided situation.

Well if Cotto beats Pac he will always have the loudest lough.

Remember after watching the clottey fight telling all my mates pacquiao-cotto would happen by the end of the year because of roachs ability to spot a class fighter on his way out.

I see potentially another pac-hatton scenario where miguel simply will have no answer to pacs speed. However much i loathe the pac huggers on this forum that spoil it so often you cannot take away mannys achievements as a fighter and he`ll go down as one of the true lower weight greats if not the greatest!!

there's rumors spreading around that Cotto does not want to stake his welter belt on the line

Quite right if it's not at the welterweight limit. If Pac wants the belt on the line at a catchweight, he needs to cough up another 5% minimum Cotto's way.

Well if I could get $6 million for a title defense I wouldn't care what the other guy is making. In these tough times that is a shit load more than he would make fighting some mandatory against some nobody from europe.

Most will agree that this is a good financial deal for Manny, and it is. For Cotto, he will make the most money he has ever made in a fight, but more importantly, this fight is an investment for another big future payday if he wins. I believe Cotto will be as focused and ready as ever for this fight. I hope to God that he will finally get it on with Mayweather.
