    Default Another prospects thread.

OK guys so as Big H pointed out (I think it was Big H)

I know there are fewer opportunities right now to watch prospects fight, but
let do it again, anyone been impressed by any prospects lately?

I was going to mention Sonsona, but I guess now that he has an alphabet title he can hardly be considered a prospect.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Being Matt Remillard has the NABF strap, as minor as it may be, that kind of excludes him as a prospect... But he is sharp and a good talent. He has been progressing steadily and getting exponentially better with every fight.

Danny O'connor is also fun to watch... Good Olympic alternate out of Mass.

Rico Ramos has still really been impressive to me and he has the demeanor of a professional athlete, good management with the Goosens who don't expose their prospects to much early on (Ward, Williams being 2) and this is a guy who was an Olympic alternate who didn't travel but he was among the best amateurs in the country with a few national titles to his name. He's already 12-0 and it'll probably still be sometime before he gets his due as one of boxing's best prospects. He's a very nice little fighter though.

Derrick Wilson is another guy from the west coast who KO'd Charles Huerta in a fun bout. Wilson is do or die, everytime out and he is absolutely fearless in the ring, off the charts speed with a flashiness second to none. He's had 2 fights on TV and it was WOW, both times. He will either be viscously KO'd or he'll make someone look absolutely foolish with his speed. His backwards spinning uppercut KO in his first bout is one of the best punches I have ever seen a boxer pull off. His fights are similar to slam dunk contests in the NBA.

Mike Dallas Jr., another guy from Bakersfield who has pretty much grown up his whole life boxing. Super athletic, super intelligent and a guy who this time 3 years ago everyone was sold that he would find himself a spot on the Olympic team but it didn't happen. He's had as good of sparring as a fighter can have throughout his career just a short drive from Vegas and he's the most elusive fighter I've ever seen with my own eyes, live. Unbelievable but he hit a bump in the road with a draw (didn't see it) and he obviously has to adjust to be more agressive in the pros. Still, worth keeping your eye on.

Raymond Serrano, Pacquiao's sparring mate for the Hatton fight. Very young, probably will be a junior middleweight when he's done growing. Not really the fastest guy in terms of pure speed but he's very smooth, doesn't waste a whole lot, has good footwork and fights smart. He followed an active 2008 with 2 wins now in 2009 and he's still rolling along. He's from Philly, another really good amateur, he's staying on course he's only 20 you hope he is mature enough to make a career for himself he certainly is a good fighter.

Mark Davis, he's being showcased in the south so a lot of his fights I haven't seen but what I've seen I liked and he's active. Another former top amateur from Cleveland, he and Aaron Williams were two of the most decorated amateurs in Ohio history. Short for lightweight (I doubt he's 5'6), he's VERY fast, VERY slick and constantly mixes it up. Basically an opponents nightmare if he can keep it together I don't know anyone who will line up to fight up. A good accurate puncher, very compact and unpredictable. Dynamite, he's awesome I might even like his prospects more then I liked Aaron Williams (robbed!) back in the day. For a guy who fought on the national level and traveled with Emmanuel Steward, I wonder if this is the right move starting your pro career in Mississippi.

There are more, certainly but you are right tv exposure is pressing, so you have to write these guys names down and look them up on youtube throughout their career. I'll go post videos from those guys the ones I can find.

This video probably isn't relevant to his pro potential but it is a very fun fight to watch. Thanks DCAmateurBoxing who uploaded this.
