    Default Taylor Hospitalized

Jermain Taylor in Berlin hospital with severe concussion after 12th-round KO in Super Six opener - ESPN

"He has a severe concussion," DiBella said. "He also had some short-term memory loss, and in the interest of being completely safe and overly safe, he'll be in the hospital probably for several days. They believe the area of his head that was hurting him was from his head hitting the canvas. He'll be in Berlin for another week because the doctors didn't want him to fly, but his wife and his mother are with him."

DiBella said when they were in the dressing room after the fight, Taylor asked him what round he was knocked out in. DiBella told him, but Taylor asked him again a few minutes later. And then, according to DiBella, Taylor asked his wife the same question twice because he could not recall which round he had been stopped in.

"Jermain's health is paramount and whether he continues in the tournament or not is not a decision that has to be made right this second," DiBella said. "He suffered a bad knockout. He was suspended medically, like anyone who suffers a knockout, so we don't have to think about that right now. Right now, we're just concerned with getting him home and getting him healthy, and we won't explore anything else right now."

That doesn't sound very good. It was a pretty ugly knock out but when a boxer hits his head right after a KO it is never good especially when it comes with a headache and short memory loss.
Best wishes to Taylor hope he gets better.

Shit, I hope he's OK. I think it could well be time to stop whether he makes a full recovery or not. He has suffered 3 KO's now and it is clearly taking it's toll on him!

Yeah, I reported this last night, when I had seen Dan post this information in his post fight chat.

Taylor hit hard. I was able to watch that fight 3 times yesterday between a live stream, and then when it was on Showtime, and watching it on a small screen you really didn't get the impact of how hard his head hit that canvas, but when I seen it on TV, it was so much more brutal. It was loud, and that canvas vibrated big time. I cringed when I had seen it.

I hope he'll be okay, and that he really thinks about what is more important to him. I hate the fact that it would be Allan Green replacing him, but I think that Taylor needs to leave the tournament for the sake of his health, and his family.

That was a brutal KO, Taylor should really pack it in. He cannot live with fighters at this level and anything below is just plan dangerous.

I realy wish the man well and hope he retires. He was showing subtle signs lastnight of a guy depending on memory in place of instinct. Not to mention being rocked by single shots..stiff legged. He could not get off.Thought he had a brutal ko coming his way and dont wish to see another.

Well if he has a big concussion then the fact is it's not going to get any better, just ask Troy Aikman or Steve Young.

I've been a Jermain Taylor fan since he got his start, but the Hopkins fights took a little out of him, the Pavlik fights took more out of him, and now with Froch and Abraham KO-ing him like this....I agree it's time for JT to hang up the gloves.

There's a lot out there that JT can do other than box, he's got a family and for their sake he should do something else other than boxing.

He probably should retire. He's not really a credible contender for this super six lark now

I thought he fought well. He got caught by one lucky punch. He does seem to hate the 12th round after his last few fights.

    I wouldn't call it a lucky punch!

15 seconds left and taylor has both gloves up protecting his face and the right just finds enought opening between the wrists to land dead on taylors mouth and you don't call that a lucky punch?

Abraham was shooting that right hand from round 6th and he finally connected. Not lucky.

I think he landed exactly where he was aiming for to be honest.
