I didn't listen to the sound for it so I don't know, hopefully he was talking about how shit Froch is.
I like him overall, he's great during the NCAA tournament.
And he can't possibly be more biased than Lamps or Kellerman. I just don't see how that's possible.
Gus isn't that bad, he does have a bit of the repugnant Mike Goldberg (the UFC guy) qualities to him in the fact that he upsells everything. I like when commentators like Atlas and Merchant are real with you on the significance of the fight. Otherwise, I think he's good and with commentators you have to give them time. Believe me, I'm in school for sports broadcasting right now and it is A LOT to have on your plate. I just wish he would do more play by play and less color for boxing. Biased isn't the right word for him though, he's not biased he just isn't comfortable yet it seems.
AAaargh!

Terrible does not begin to describe him.Had to make amends with Jim Lampley during fightnight thread as Gus puts him to shame in brown nosing some guys....."Speed of Roy Jones" and skills of Floyd Maywather....HUH.Hes a blow hard more suited for a Monday night Raw show for WWE
gus johnson ended up on SHOWTIME because when ELITEXC (the mma promotion that used to be on SHOWTIME) got a CBS deal they wanted to have control over the production, im pretty sure thats where johnson came in
for some reason SHOWTIME decided to start using him for STRIKEFORCE (the mma promotion that is now on showtime) and they replaced steve albert with him
they did have steve albert work the abraham taylor fight tho
steve albert is the fucking man
i think the reason they had albert call that fight was nick charles being absent with cancer treatment
they had bernstien work the last shobox, which was the first since nick charles has been out, so maybe steve albert will be his fill-in
I can't post it at work, but search YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. for the Gus Johnson - Spike Lee "Pause" Clip.

I kinda like Gus Johnson. I'm at least willing to give him a shot.
I must be alone, I quite like Gus Johnson, he's nowhere near the level of brown-nosing that Lampley, Steward & Merchant would do for Oscar fights. I find one of the great ironies is that Top Rank's PPV broadcasts are some of the most balanced in the sport.
Everything about showtime from its commentary to its press row is biased
I watched the fight live on PPV in the uk and again via a showtime telecast and if you closed your eyes you would of thought you were watching an all together different fight.
Primetime were calling it more often than not spot on and had it going right till the last round. Yet had you listen to showtime you would of believed the fight was all over by the end of the 5th and that dirrell would of been unlucky to lose the odd round!!
one dangerous horrible bloke
Lol Hammer who are you to call anyone out on biases? I haven't watched the British version but shit just because Gus Johnson didn't make believe that Froch was landing some punches doesn't mean he's biased. I think he can be good one day, he has some bad days and some good ones. I thought he did a good job calling the Bradley-Peterson fights.
Uhhhhh...he may not be great in boxing but for football, basketball, and any other sport, Gus Johnson is the guy I want doing my play by play. His calls are fucking brilliant. His excitement is pure and while listening to him you feel like you're listening to a genuinely excited guy and sports lover and not some suit.
"Another right hand landing flush by Carano.
Backs her up with the jab, now circling, looking more like a boxer.
Short left hook on a pivot, another short left hook; that's Floyd Mayweather right there!!!"
- Gus Johnson describing Gina Carano vs Kobold.
Then Gus said Seth Petruzelli beating Kimbo Slice was the biggest upset in MMA history.
Yep, Gus Johnson is pretty f*<ked up.
