    Default Shobox: Brunson-Jones

Anyone think Carson Jones can pull the upset tonight? I think it's a repeat of last week where if he can stand in and take Brunson's firepower in the early round, maybe he can eek a decision late. I haven't seen a whole lot of Brunson but I've seen a lot of Jones and he always puts in a good effort and stays fresh throughout the fight. He took a beating against Soto-karass and came back to give him a good fight late and he had 2 fights on FNF where he was impressive too.

I don't even know if I'd consider it a big upset. I haven't seen much of either (I'm trying to place Carson Jones, I think I have but I could be mixing him up with somebody) but isn't Brunson the dude that's just been fed a bunch of no hopers his whole career?

The only time I've ever seen Jones is in his bullshit TKO loss to Alfonso Gomez. That was a horrible stoppage.

They both tested positive for weed that fight. Stacy Goodson was his manager for that fight which explains the early losses. His first fight with Jose Gonzalez was a really good fight.

Isn't brunson the Guy that broke valero's record for knocking out tomato cans in the first round? If so I have serious doubts about him. War Jones!
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I feel bad for Brunson just because his handlers kind of took him on a ride to get that phoney record of his and instead of bringing him along the right way and have him gradually tested, they decided they would have a plan to try to cashout early. This is the type of fight he should have had 2 or 3 years ago and because he didn't have these types of fights then in his first 20 fights, now might be to late.

    Brunson 1-0

Brunson moving, won it by doing more, jabbing, some body work

Jones methodically stalking, but not really throwing, landed a left, right to the top of the head that Brunson complained about. Brunson a little stiff though.

    Brunson 2-0

Jones stalking with a high guard, Brunson moving and jabbing, taking advantage of the high guard with body work.

Jones just not doing much. Landed a pretty nice right hand and some body work but not enough to get the round. He could get to Brunson as it goes on though.

Jones comes out pressuring more, drops Brunson with a counter right, left hook, Brunson hurt and in retreat for a minute or so after that, starts to take more, then just laid against the ropes and let Jones throw flurry after flurry, didn't always land but Brunson refused to throw back AT ALL and the ref stopped it.

To say he didn't respond well to getting dropped is an understatment.

Bumson pretty much crumbled when his opponent decided to fight back. Granted Jones is a better fighter than his record suggests it still no excuse.
