I think he's a little under rated. He has the least appealing style in boxing which is pure spoiler/boxer. He has great movement but of course there isn't much power. I think a lot of his criticism from having those ridiculously long and theatric ring walks, directly followed by him spoiling for 12 rounds. Also he has always been pretty inactive no more than 2 fights a year, more recently he had only one fight in '08 and one in '09.

He was the lineal welterweight champ, and pretty talented with a great jab. I think his ability gets overlooked, because he's so hard to like.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Latimore might say he's a bit overrated and I'd have to say hes right.Though he fought a better fan friendly fight there had Latimore taking it.Think its the pre fight gyrations and borderline stroke dance he does on way to ring.Seems to have followed suit and disappeared as do many King promoted fighters?

I think his skills are underrated.

And I think he's pretty leveled as a whole boxer.

For certain underrated who talks about him on this forum ? i've never seen anyone talk about him since the Jermain Taylor fight, i've seen quite alot of his fights, and i actually like his style. He's a very slick/skillful Southpaw and i enjoy watching him fight.

I loved his performance against Ricardo Mayorga, he totally gave him a boxing lesson. And this was just after Ricardo Mayorga beat Vernon Forrest, and despite what people say he did legitmately beat Zab Judah in there 1st meeting. Although it was a very close fight and he got knocked down late, he still beat him legitmately.

And i recommend watching both those fights above aswell, especially the Zab Judah fight that was a pretty good IMO they traded knockdowns in that one. As for there 2nd meeting it was more or less the same as there 1st meeting, until Cory Spinks got caught and he couldn't recover but he still done well vs Zab Judah until he got caught.

As for his other fights worth watching i recommend his last fight he had, his fight with Rafael Pineda, his 2nd meeting vs Michele Piccirillo, and his fight vs Miguel Angel Gonzalez.

A fight i don't recommend watching is his fight vs Jermain Taylor, that was one of the dulliest fights i've ever seen. I scored it a draw but unless you want to do your own scoring, there's nothing about that fight that you should waste your time with. All you need to know it was no more than 7-5 either way and lets leave it at that.

But finally i am actually a bit of a fan of Cory Spinks, he's got some good wins on his record and most of his wins were close losses. For certain a very good skillful fighter.

i too had that fight a draw, i dnt like taylor for the fact that he talks trash. and about spinks saying that u cant run and and expect to win the fight, how do you call spinks running when dats his style of fighting and it works great against his opponents and it worked great on taylor.

I think he's both. The guy has a wealth of talent but doesn't keep his tools sharp. You would think after he went up to Junior Middle he wouldn't have stamina issues anymore, but guess what? The guy's still got stamina issues. I don't think he trains properly and can only keep up the pace of an effective speedster for half a fight. But he's got great speed and great defense. He's exactly like Floyd Mayweather if you take away the power and stamina. That's why I think if he had stayed at WW he may have been able to beat him if he had actually put some gas in the tank.

Good boxer but I dont think hes underated. Pretty sad that his ring walks were considered more exciting than his fights, but thats what you get with a guy with little power that likes to box cautiously from the outside and cant punch very hard.
