Default OK so PAC is easily Fighter of the year.

I would like to make a list of honorable mentions.

    The rules of this game

    1. You cannot name someone that has already been named

    2. The fighter must have fought at least twice in 2009

    3. Only events of 2009 can be used to justify them.

    I'll start

Yonnhy Perez deserves a mention for two huge upsets firstly he had a come from behind stoppage against Silence Mabuza in Mabuza's backyard. Perez was getting outboxed early on and kept pressing and pressing and dialing in his shots until a worn out Mabuza finally gave in to the punishment. More recently he came in as a widely unknown name against Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko. Perez again gave constant pressure and continued to outland Agbeko throughout the night.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Vitali Klitschko could if he beats Johnson, he's fought top tier guys in Gomez and Arreola (undefeated at the time) and done up to now both by stoppage, plus add in his age and i guess you could make a case for him

I'm having a hard time thinking of runners up. J. Marquez had an impressive year, despite his loss to Mayweather. I would've said Williams, but he's been mentioned. Klitschko is a good one too.

I don't know how you guys can suggest Williams considering that a majority of fans, and media, feel that he lost that fight with Martinez. And I think you can factor in his win over Winky, that Winky was no where near fighting his best after being inactive for so long.

Personally, I think Williams doesn't even deserve a mention.

I think that I would have to go with Pac.

How about as a runner-up/honorable mention - Andre Ward. He had 4 fights, all wins, including his total dismantling of Miranda and Kessler.

    Maybe for a runner-up/honorable mention -
He's only fought once (assuming because of age and circumstance), but Shane Mosley pulled one of the biggest upsets early in the year (in January if I'm not mistaken), by not only dominating, but knocking out Margarito.

Well since I wanna play I'm gonna go with my boyo! BCD.

Solidified himself as the best LHW today with wins over Tarver and Glenn.
Say what you will be he's settled those 2 talks down with clear cut wins.

People bitched about the Glenn rematch then when it came people bitched Why rematch?

I think SSM would have had a shot for runner up would he have fought again in 2009. But I think he deserves Comeback of the Year.

Lucian Bute has been impressive this year, stopping two very tough opponents in Fulgencio Zuniga, Librado Andrade.

Chad Dawson beat Glen Johnson convincingly which i wanted him to do, and another good win over a still good Antonio Tarver.

Tomasz Adamek good wins over Jonathan Banks, Andrew Golota.

Vitali Klitschko some decent wins over Juan Carlos Gomez, Chris Arreola, and now is probably gonna add Kevin Johnson to that list.

Paul Williams sorry Diana i have to disagree, whether or not some people thought he lost to Sergio Martinez. It was still a great fight, and a fight that could of gone either way, and it was still a good win for Paul Williams, plus a good dominant win over Winky Wright, which hasn't been done since 1994.

Juan Manuel Lopez showed heart in winning in a thriller against Rogers Mtagwa, had a dominating win over Gerry Penalosa, and is the only one to ever stop him, plus a decent win against an upcoming contender.

Arthur Abraham defended his Middleweight title twice, then stops Jermain Taylor at Super Middleweight not bad at all.

Andre Ward two good wins over Mikkel Kessler, Edison Miranda.

Jean Pascal two good wins over Silvio Branco, Adrian Diaconu, and could possibly have another win over Adrian Diaconu before this year is up.

Timothy Bradley solid wins over Nate Campbell, Kendall Holt, then could possibly have a win over Lamont Peterson tomorrow night, could be a very impressive 2009 for Timothy Bradley.

Aside from all the obvious contenders and high profile names, my vote goes to Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym (Superbantamweight from Thailand). All the world champions ducked this kid and wouldn't fight him, Bernard Dunne fought him in September and got ko'd. He fought 3 times in 2009, winning the WBA world super bantamweight title, and fights again in January. A fighter with unbelieveable power, that i believe will continue to KO everyone he comes up against in the near future. A 39 and 1 record, with only defeat coming against the very respectable Sidorenko of Ukraine. My fighter of the year.

You forgot Froch. If you think the other supermiddles deserve a mention then Froch definitely does. He arguably has the best 2009 form - Taylor and Dirrell.

Amir Khan deserves the runner-up spot.

Started the year as a joke 54 second KO victim. Ended it with a win over a legend, stepped up in weight to win the WBA lightwelterweight title and defended it in devastating fashion.

That is what you call a GREAT year. Fact.

I strongly disagree with one of those Froch wins. I'm sure you can guess which one

difference is none of the ones already mentioned have a gift decision on their 2009 record, Froch/Dirrell basically discards Carl "hands of molasses" Froch cause he didn't win that fight
