Instead of creating several threads I just thought I'd cram this into 1...
Just gonna post some random things on here feel free to comment or add your own if you like. Keep in mind I've not really been following boxing to the core for some months now so I might have missed injuries and stuff like that...
Where you at?/What happened?
DPDL - Argueably the best S. Bantam at one point. Multiple defenses and the most if not 1 of the most active/busy champs in past years. Since the lost to JML have yet to even make a headline even after his win over Roinet.
Peter Quillin - Seriously, WTF happened to this kid. Not a single fight in 2009. This kid showed so much potential and talent by now I thought he'd be a top contender possibly challenging for a title.
Jesus Gonzalez - So much talk about him and nothing. Had/has the tools to go far, not sure now with such a long lay off. Got a feeling something went wrong. 1 fight in 08 and 0 fights in 09.
Joel Julio - He loses back to back and digs up a 6 rd. UD fight. Really? That's it just a 6 rounder?
Ricardo Torres - After the "shady" loss to Holt in 08, Torres fought just once in 2009. That's 2 fights in 2 yrs. what a waste certainly not the most talented but what a treat he is to see fight.
Rock Allen - What ever happened to him. Anyone got the slightest clue?
Wladimir Sidorenko - At least Joel Julio had the decency to fight a 6 rounder. You on the other hand what, not even a 4 rounder.
Joseph Agbeko - So let me get this straight you brilliantly beat Vic and outclass him only to lose in the next fight to a unknown name to most people? (Not raggin on Yhonny by any means if you run a search on his name you'll see I predicted he'd beat Mabuza and I had also listed him as top prospect to follow had a chance to see fight live in 06 and in 08 twice)
Florantes Condes - From little Pacquiao to little nothing. A single bout in 09 where you we're outboxed by an obscure boxer and lost a bid at a title shot. Not even an "exhibition" bout?
Remember these names, I expect big things from them in 2010.
For some title shots for others just exposure.
(I wont re-hash the Erislandys or the McEwans or Brooks or Vanes etc. etc.)
Hernan Marquez - A prospect who picked up some recognition in closed circuits. But I think 2010 will be the year he steps into the bright light. Needs polishing defensively.
Daud Yordan - I think he would have beaten Guerrero and I think Guerrero took the easy way out. The 1st time I saw Daud was in 07 and I felt he still needed to improve vastly. After seeing him again in 08 and and 09 he's def improved and I think that the fact that his last name is Yordan (Jordan) makes him special and 1 of a kind.
Dmitry Pirog - Been following him since his fight vs. Alaggio and I'm really impressed with what I see would like to see more composure and selective punching can be a bit wild at times.
Cesar Ceda Jr - Kids looks to have a bright future. Tall and lanky for the division like the equivilance of Caballero to his division as far as size goes. Talent wise very fluid, top caliber hand speed and well rounded.
Grzegorz Proksa - Saw this kids debut and was impressed kept my eye on him and wound up watching him fight live on the undercard of JLC-Corrales 1. They don't call this kid Super G for nothing, lighting fast. Needs to settle down a bit.
Have you seen him?
Cesar Rene Cuenca - Being toutted as possibly the "finest" boxer in a long time I read in a Argentine website. Nationalism or the truth? He's got 36 wins 0 loses with only 1 win by KO to his name. I can't find videos on him.
Alexander Bakhtin - Have read really good things about him. But again can't find any video on him. A good boxer with lots of good qualities. His record 23 wins 0 loses with 10 KO's.
Farewell...
Brahim Asloum really talented boxer, too bad he had the injuries plus the issues with the French network they just couldn't come to terms. Outstanding boxer no shame in losing to "La Arana" Parra and "El Huracan" Narvaez.
