I think I'm correct on this but CARBO LOAD!
We're talking potatoes, pasta, bread, peanut butter...all that kind of stuff. Throw some chicken in for protein
As for drink, I suggest mineral water and if you had a tough time making weight Gatorade to get your electrolytes back up
If I were trainer monkey I'd tell you to binge on bagels and KFC.
Are you talking about professional or amateur fights? Big time difference.
Gatorade is not bad...Saddos does not endorse any one particular sports related drink, other sugary sports drinks are available.
I've taken re-hydration tabs and water when I've been training in hot weather. That worked well for me. Doesn't sit on your stomach as some carb drinks can.
most of my fights I've had 3-6 hrs from weigh in to match time. Usually a carb load (pasta and marinara) right after weigh in, water liberally or gatorade more if I cut a bit...then a banana or 2 for the last hr to nibble on to get those natural sugars in.
amature boxing ... usually get about 1 or 2 hours on a show but probably longer at competitions.
I'd recommend some pasta & personally I like to have some whey protein in milk as that always helps me out even if its just a mental thing, chased by some powerade.
This recipe has always worked for me as it's relatively light in the sense that you don't feel too heavy after it, but it also gives you some energy, plus it's pretty quick to make, although I adjust some of the flavourings.

And I like to have an apple or some cranberries in the half-hour or so before I go into the ring. I find that fruits high in anti-oxidants give me a little buzz before getting in the ring. Like YB says as well, it's important to get those natural sugars in & he's a better boxer than me so trust him![]()
