Default Cali may be 1st state to legalize Marijuana for Recreational Use

Cali Voters Could Legalize Marijuana for Recreational Use - WJW

Rhode Island and Nevada is trying to legalize it also. Might as well watch a big fight live after just smoking a good one outside in Vegas.

I already use it recreationally from time to time, but hey good news all around.

So if there are any Cali residents here, remember to vote in November.

I don't think i'd ever smoke the stuff even if it was legal.... I was offered a joint just this weekend and turned it down while my girlfriend had a puff... Man that stuff rots your brains and memory... Don't think i've had weed for about 7 or 8 years now, at least......
Probably the most momentous statement to myself that the stuff wasn't good for me was that I went to play guitar one day after a year hiatus from it, and I could not play a single riff of a single song that I could once shred with the best of them... I knew the song I wanted to play, I could fuzzily hear the tune in my head, but I had absolutely no idea where to put my fingers... Just absolutely no idea... Like those people who have a brain problem and just suddenly forget their name, or how to do up buttons, or tie their shoes...

But the fact it's illegal and pretty much anyone in the world who actually wants to smoke it, can get a hold of it and smoke it anyway, makes the laws pretty redundant...

I would assume even if they did legalize it, there would still be dealers and tax free income etc, because not everyone would want to grow their own..

It's the radical morons who campaign to legalize extacy and ice and cocaine who are the realy scary ones...

I'm of two minds when it comes to the legalisation of drugs. In the privacy of your own home you should be free to do what you want, but I don't like the idea of pot being everywhere. I don't want people smoking it in the streets and especially not near children. But you know that if the parents are doing it openly then the kids will be aware and at younger ages and I just don't think that is healthy.

Drugs being made illegal clearly doesn't work though either, and all that is happening is that a lot of money is being given to the black market and the quality of produce is being reduced. As an adult if you want to take something why must you be forced to scout out a dodgy dealer when you could be paying tax on the product and getting something legitimate?

The whole war on drugs thing seems to be a farce to me. The only issue I have is keeping kids on the straight and narrow because they haven't fully matured enough to make their own decisions.

Well obviously bad parents will smoke weed regardless of their children no matter if it is legal or not. So, in that respect my last post was a bit off.

Wouldn't you agree that smoking cigarettes is worse? There is a societal perception about weed and weedsmokers, that I myself buy into, despite the fact I know better. People who smoke weed are viable contributors to society. Look at Michael what's-his-face who won all those gold medals. We've been spoonfed such a misinformation campaign that despite all that being debunked we still feel wrong about it. I remember the commercials saying weedsmokers were lazy, that pot made you impotent, that if you smoked it your sister would get raped by your friend and none of that is (necessarily) true.

I don't want it anywhere near me, but I don't want cigarettes near me, either. Nobody dies or overdoses from weed, but people get lung cancer everyday. People get drunk and die in car crashes, die from alcohol poisoning or burn out their livers. But cigarettes and alcohol are perfectly legal. If anything, there are health benefits to smoking pot, but there are some who don't think sick people should be allowed to have it. The fact of it is there is no big industry behind weed. Anyone can grow it from the comfort of their own back yard. There's nobody to monopolize it so they can lobby politicians and jack up their prices to infinity and the gov't can't tax a renewable product you can grow yourself unless they try and pull the same BS they do with your license plate by having you renew a 'license' every year. Racketeering at its finest.
