Default Yuri Romanov looked world class.

Romanov looked world class in stopping Thaxton. His balance, timing and punch power overwhelmed Thaxton and looked in a totally different league to him. He is a genuine threat to the best lightweights in the world and at only 25 he is a big danger for Amir Khan chance to become a unified champion.

I was about to make this post. Warren won't put Khan anywhere near Romanov yet as Khan will get creamed. Romanov should be put in for a world title shot next. I saw nothing in his game that makes me think he couldn't handle the challenge. Good fighter with big things to come.

I dont know a lot about Romanov. What happened against Earl? A world class guy should really beat him. Sounds like he fought well v Thaxton tho. In a funny way this may make it easier for Thaxton to get his shot at Khan......Now that he has been beaten, and shown a bit of weakness Warren may be more inclined to put Amir in with him?

If anything i'd say Thaxton not getting anywhere Khan now. His opposition still get dissed by all including people who know nothing about boxing at all.Fighting Jon Thaxton who's just been beaten...badly.Would just make Khan look really bad.

Khan and Romanov would be great though. Before Amir goes for world titles we should get to see who is the best in europe.

I haven't seen Romanov fight at all... But I did always find it funny how therre was so much pressure for a Khan-Thaxton matchup... At first I thought it was a good domestic rivalry between the two, then I actually looked at Thaxtons record and saw a little footage of him. The guy practically sucks, Amir Khan is clearly of a higher calibre, can't see Thaxton as being much more than another Graham Earl should they have fought. I would like to see Khan step up, his next fight is supposedly a WBO elim which would mean he's in line to fight Casa or Nate Campbell... Who knows whether Frank Warren would want him to pursue those options though . Can anyone give me some info on his opponent , Khristanejoff or something like that? Is this just another step for Khan or is it a pick em?

I think Romonov had a long lay off from the ring then he went in with Earl.

Anyone see a Thaxton v Earl fight happening soon?

Romanov beat the british champion. End of story.
he looked sharpe , but that doesnt make him the next big thing in the division.
Jon Thaxton isnt world class so how can beating the crap out of him make you world class

As for Khan , Romanov would be a good test for him.

He had a 13 month layoff coming off an injury when he lost a close decision to Earl. He was unlucky really.

He is European Champion making decent defences. Yeah Thaxton is British level but Romanov did absolutely nothing wrong. He long as good as you can against a southpaw puncher. He rocked Thaxton on numerous occasions. He he hits Khan clean, Khan is going down.

Thaxton has a decent dig, is the British Champion and is the mandatory for Khan's Commonwealth title. Khan is also Thaxtons mandatory. Thaxton can punch, and Khan is deemed to have a suspect chin. Khan has had 17 fights, and the British title is the next logical step in his career.

Romanov looked good, much better than anything Khan's fought. If Kahn is genuine about Campbell or Casa he needs an opponent at least of Romanovs quality first.

Khan is fighting for a world title eliminator in his next fight, so should he win tonight he will get a shot at a title. But who will he be facing ??

Burton stopped a younger version of Thaxton too but it was conosidered an easy comeback for Thaxton and Burton was trailing in that fight .

In this fight Jono was up for it but was outclassed from the outset . Its not beating Jon that makes him world class its teh way he did it . Good balance , impressive punch picking . Great class for a young guy . He is defo improving .

Looking good against Thaxton doesn't make you world class tho.

Thaxton isn't even close to world class.

As for Romanov creaming Kahn, i don't think so. He's good but let's see him deal with Kahn's speed and combinations.
