Default Andre Dirrel's interview on Fight Camp 360

After watching his interview, I no longer believe a word out of his mouth.

In the Sept interview he and his crew were already talking about how the Ward fight might not happen and how they wanted to re-negotiate his purse. (despite the fact that they already agreed to the purse last year)

Then in in the October interview, he could not remember his doctor's name, and then when pressed for details about his "injury." He said he wanted a lawyer, and stoped the interview.

WTF? Why in the world would he need a lawyer for a sports interview?

He is clearly a coward, and wants to avoid a Ward beatdown at all costs.

Arthur Abram had the best line: Dirrell should retire and go to hollywood to become and actor.

He should change his first name and leave club Andre completely.

Club Andre wishes it to be known that it does not support or attain to any thoughts of Dirrel, drivel or dribble whichever arises first.

Well, its the same deal with the Klitschkos. Kind of crappy, but would you want to be in a situaton where you could possibly harm one of your friends? He shouldnt have even joined the tourney, he was probably hoping they wouldnt get matched up.

..... Forgive me if I'm wrong but direll never intended to fight ward from the begining. The punch was real and the best thing that could ever happen for direll probably even why he went so far to sell it . But whether he hit him with a jab or a hook he hit him while he was down and now he's got the excuse he needed. Either way he's a good boxer and this is shady but no where as bad as most stuff accepted in this sport as the norm. Kessler claims he can't see yet he's skiing and flooring sportscars and no one cares. He found his legal out and is taking it . Sad and kinda bitchy but whatcha going to do ?

Definitely sounded sketchy. Why did they say earlier they weren't fighting unless money was "right".

I don't see anything sketchy about Kessler. He gave a legit reason. He didn't say he was blind. He said his vision was affected. I don't think he had a problem driving. I would expect if he was a baseball player and you can't see pitches as good, or dodge punches. Eye injurys are common for boxers. That's what brough SRL into retirement. Nobody was questioning if he drove??

Dirrell's problem here is the statements about the money, the venue not being made, etc. If the fight was signed and the docs stepped in there would be no controversy.

No one said anything about Jermain Taylor. Actually everyone congratulated him.

I was one of the original Dirrell believers. I mean I thought something weird happened up there after he got hit. As time goes on though, that position just becomes less and less plausible.

Good post. It seems strange. How many doctors did the Dirrell's visit before making the decision? Did they consult with Showtime's doctors?

I don't think the cause of Dirrell backing out is that he is too tight with Ward to fight. To me, it seems like Dirrell is coming off of a punishing knockout (even though he won the fight) and a loss. His team probably thought it was dumb to put him in with Ward now and possibly suffer his third set-back in a row. Better to take a year off, regroup, take a couple of tune-ups and then step up the competition. Clearly, however, that violates his contract with Showtime.

What Dirrel is doing is equivalent, to when someone at work asks for a day off, and then when their request is rejected, they call out sick. And No one really believes they are sick.

    Yep, I think so too.

Why has it only taken until so recently to come out with this serious neurological problem? If there were such problems then why was he back in training? And likewise, it seemed as though there were other more important issues at hand such as money rather than so called mental issues.

I don't buy it and think Abraham is on the money with this. Just in this case the performance on 360 was extremely transparent.

I hope he gets frozen out by showtime and HBO for his cowardice.
