Default Solis vs. Austin and Cloud vs. Zuniga

Tomorrow night, live from America broadcast only on PolSat sports

Solis is he in line for a title shot, or is he just in line for the buffet?

Odlanier faces off against Ray "Hasn't fought in over a year and is over 40" Austin in a WBC title eliminator clash. The winner here gets a shot at Vitali Klitschko, maybe unless the wrong guy wins and then they have another title eliminator, or if Haye decides to fight Vitali, then it all means nothing.

Also Tavoris Cloud is fighting Fulgencio "Tomato Can Diet" Zuniga. This should actually be an entertaining fight, pretty much impossible to go to decision. Both guys always bring it and have reasonably good chins.

Both fights are worth watching IMO, probably not FOTY candidates (although Cloud/Zuniga has that potential) but entertaining ones none the less.

If Solis got himself in shape he could be a major force in the heavyweight division. It's frustrating. He is a tough man though and even in his blubbery form I still favour him to give David Haye a very tough fight if/when they meet.

He needs to work harder though. Basically there are 5 fighters in the weight class now who are respectable imo, Wlad, Vitali, Haye, Adamek and Povetkin.

Solis can put his name amongst those if he starts to actually train.

Solis has fought NOBODY and is in line for a title shot ?! WTF ? That fat fuck has done nothing to earn it. And Ray Austin has heart but not much skill so I don't expect him to put up much of a fight.

Zuniga is actually a pretty good fighter. Aside from Lucian Bute destroying him, he has done pretty well when I've watched him.

I expect Cloud to big too big, too young and too hungry for him tho. Should be a good fight while it lasts.

Monte Barrett was a big enough name for Wlad and Haye to get a title shot with fwiw.

Barrett was a good fighter for what he was. Tons of heart, some boxing skill, just not a world beater.

He was def better than anyone Solis has tried to eat, I mean fight.

    Solis destroyed Barret.

Besides Austin, Chisora, Harrison and Sosjnoswki are hardly better names than Solis.

Solis may not have done much to deserve a shot, but absolutely everybody else has already been beaten. If not Solis, then who else?

Besides, Solis beats all of these mentioned by me abover imo. He's a legit challenge, although like Povetkin, I would rather he worked on improving his skills and conditioning and get a couple tougher fights in first.

Remember Cris Arreola? Well, Arreola was 6'4 and weighed in for fights between 250 and 260 pounds. Solis is 6'1 and weighs a whopping 270 pounds for his fights. I mean that's like retardedly fat. And he's a professional boxer? It's almost comical. Seriously.

The Klitschko brothers cleaned out the division, unfortunately, other than Adamek, Povetkin, and Haye, there really isn't much else out there. Solis is as good as any.

    Solis KO 3
    Cloud KO 4.

    A shot Barret maybe.

    Solis is crap.

    He's fought crap.

I've seen the guy fight several times and he's a slow, plodding fat bastard, who wins his fights because of his power and the opponents are scared of him.

I am starting to think Solis isnt that serious. He weighed in at 260, Ray Austin who is 6'6" 5 inches taller than Solis weighed 20 lbs less. I really dont see anything but another Sam Peter type beating if he faces a Klitchko.

I don't think he'll take a beating like Sam Peter did. Say what you will about Sam, but at least the guy has heart! I think Solis is getting by on his power and his ability to deliver punches in a proper and devistating manner, I do think he's a bit chinny though he hasn't been touched up as a pro yet. He should have no trouble with Ray Austin, though Ray could keep away from him for a while, if it gets to the 6th round Austin has a better chance of winning from then on out just due to conditioning alone.

I would love to see Solis fight a dangerous opponent not named Klitschko before he gets sent to slaughter, but oh well c'est la guerre.

Also let it be noted that former Lou Duva protege Michael Marrone weighed in at 260 1/2 ......wow, a couple years ago he was in the 220's, he never caught my eye as an impressive fighter, but damn...did he get stung by a bee or something?

Walker was doing okay countering in there, but you can't fight Mayorga without head movement.

Mayorga looked ok I guess. He doesn't look like he's in tremendous shape exactly but at the same time he didn't look that tired in the 9th.
