    Default Anyone got a Kinect?

I spent New Year's Eve around my brothers and he had just bought Kinect for his kids. It's tremendous fun and we spent a few hours playing the Sports one.

The boxing was great, and for cripple like myself exhausting.

I had two fights and got stopped in the second when I could no longer continue

Even better is it records video of you afterwards and plays it back, in my case it showed me bent over and wheezing after 2 rounds of 'brutal' shadow boxing.

So I think it's worth investing in as a fun way to exercise, maybe not for hardcore athletes, but more than enough for me.

There are dedicated fitness programs available for it as well so I'm thinking of taking the console plunge and finally buying an xbox 360 only 5 years after their launch.

Anyone else own, or use the kinect yet? I was well impressed. My brothers kids have the Wii as well and I was always a bit 'meh' with that, couldn't see the appeal, but this is the bollocks imo.

I did the same thing on New Years Eve. Except I was hammered but yeah I beat everyone in the house at boxing and then my cousin who's house it was TKO'd me in the first round. THEEEN my 4 year old niece beat him, she was a natural! I mean she was countering to perfection. I was shocked. She wasn't just flailing her arms, it was beautiful to watch.

Some of it does tire you out! Especially when you're most of the way through a 12 pack, some Jim Beam and a glass of champagne and a whole pack of cigarettes.

haha yeah I'm not sure how much skill is involved but as something that will get you up and on your feet it's ideal.

I haven't got an Xbox 360, and it would cost too much money. Too buy the machine and the Kinect aswell, but it certainly looks really good.

Does the Kinect Boxing register your punches better than the Wii Boxing... Cuz i was getting pretty ticked at the Wii boxing, it wouldn't move when i did... ??

To be honest I couldn't tell you. I am hopeless at fighting and indeed sports of all kinds so my sense of coordination is less accurate anyway. But it felt fine to me.

In one fight my diseased lungs were about to give up and my fighter was taking a pasting so I went all out with a Calzaghe style hundred punch slap fest and it accurately translated that, and I won by knockout. Hilariously the video afterwards showed me bent over and clutching at my chest before keeling over onto the floor in a crumpled heap.

My aim is to train every day to make the post fight videos less embarrassing.

Playing some of the other games what really impressed me is it properly registers your feet and body movements, so if you dive to the ground so will your game character in some games.

In the future Gears of War type games could be ace with you having to physically crouch down behind walls and simulate throwing grenades and chainsawing people.

It really puts you in the action.

I'm hoping for some decent third party sex games...

Not a full boxing game, just the boxing segment on Kinect Sports.

There is a UFC career training game coming out March though that sounds ace. Basically you get taught how to fight and throw punches, kicks etc.

With that loving on the ground in MMA though I'd suggest not playing it 2 player with family and friends watching. Could get very awkward for all concerned.

That Dance Central is considered the best game for the Kinect right now I believe. I'd LOVE to learn to dance, but I don;t think I could put myself through it.

Better to know I have to left feet than to practice on that and start to believe the delusion that actually I'd look pretty good on the local dance floors....

How much room are you guys playing in? I got my son an xbox360 but was put off getting the kinect sensor because of the room I'd heard you need. we had a go on a demo at Tesco and he was told to stand about 8 feet away, more for two players which just isnt doable in most rooms of a regular house is it?

It was Brilliant mind you, would love to get it. That Michael Jackson dance game looks the bollocks.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

I'm rearraning my entire lounge to accomodate it so I should have the 8 feet no problem. Sounds like space is an issue to consider especially if using fitness programs that track you on the floor doing press ups for example.

My xbox and kinect arrived today. Not set up yet. Also got a 40 inch Sony lcd and a £550 speaker set up coming.

My first new year resolution was to not make any electronic purchases this year. That pledge lasted 3 days

I could never have two people play at the same time. Without rearranging the furniture, I've just about enough space myself.

To be fair, it's probably an accident waiting to happen

The fitness one looks awsome its got to be said. How cool to have a slimline version of yourself on screen shadowed by your former lard arsed self.

I had the same problem with the Playstation Eye, i simply haven't got the room to play it. Because im too near to the screen, and at times it was very fiddly.
