    Default Pavliks future

how does he fair vs the semifinalist of the super 6?
I think it was a decent outing tonight considering the ring rust and quality of opposition.

Pavlik's future? He should remove those fucked up looking tats. As for boxing, he's done at the elite level.

He seems to be done, give him a couple of gimme's to see out the year and see if he can stay off the sauce in the meantime. Maybe then he can move up a gear. No way is he ready for the elite at MW or above.

I don't think he really has one. His major advantages at 160 were his enormous size and physical strength. Factor in that 160 has really been lousy for five years and i think folks got ahead of themselves on Pavlik. I don't think he was rusty tonight, that is who he is. He struggled stopping an up the middle attack by a guy who can't punch.

At 168 he's relatively smaller, relatively weaker and he's not much of an athlete in terms of speed or agility. I'd have him as a major underdog against any of the super six guys except maybe Dirrell and certainly against Bute and Johnson as well.

Carl Froch would have him cowering in a corner in the fetal position saying "Budweiser, I want my Budweiser" inside of five rounds.

Thing is somewhere along the way pavlik lost his workrate. He never was a great technician or anything of the sort, but for a power puncher he threw tons of punches. He's never goin to be great but if he can get properly motivated and just add a little variety he can give some of those guys a run for their money. He got dismantled by hop no shame in that really, the martinez fight was fairly close till the stoppage

i hope and pray Pav could still improve, he is still one of my faves. sad to see him decline faster than a speeding bullet throughout the years.

I'm still waiting for Hopkins to come around the corner with that ball bat he threatend to use on him if Kelly didn't learn to bend his knees. Nice enough guy, hope he gets demons sorted but you can stick a fork in him. The blue prints out.

I think if Froch beats Johnson which I expect him too, Pavlik v Johnson would give us an idea where Pavlik is.

I don't know what my favourite part of the Pav fight was: it was either him being announced as being 'popular' in an empty arena, or that fact that he had, obviously, allowed his daughter to draw all over his body.

Maybe it was ring rust but he did look awful technically, not that he is a technical fighter but the basics were not there. Couple with no power he looked ordinary and very little to offer at the world class level he once fought at the lower weight.

I hope they(Top Rank) don't throw him to the wolves in his next fight. He needs at least two more fights before stepping up to a top 168lber.

I wouldn't look too much into last night's fight. Sure, he looked like shit but keep in mind it was his first fight in 13 months. Not to mention he's fresh outta rehab. I certainly wasn't expecting a vintage Pavlik performance.

Hopefully he'll look better next time out
