Did Cristiano Ronaldo teach Haye to box?

*I've lifted my self imposed ban on mentioning Haye's name because at least he had the balls to step in the ring this time....not that he did much else.

And I thought you were bigger than that Lyle

Seriously tho, props to Wlad ! Haye just didnt do enough, buts thats the story with everyone of Wlad fights. That Jab is unbelieveable, it stops ya in ya tracks and very hard to counter or do anything about it.

Someone on here calls Haye 13, well ya may as well recall him 4, cos thats the amount of punches he landed per round on average.

The writing was on the wall after the first couple of rounds, Wlad just kept connecting with that jab, if im honest I thought Wlad could of took Haye out of there about the 9-10rd.

I thought once Wlad found that home with the jab on a regular basis, he would of followed up with the right a lot more. Props to Haye for taking his shots like, cos Wlad did catch him with a few good shots that I thought Haye would have struggled with !

Didnt really listen to the after fight stuff ( busy playing poker with the lads that were over ), but if Haye is trying to come out with excuses about injuries then it's just sour grapes.

Bottom line is he didnt throw enough punches. When he did it was effective, at times. Alot of his shots were wild, hence the amount of times he touched down. Haye's balance was shit, and the credit for that goes to Wlad for his tactics and that jab !

Once again Props to Wlad !!

Just when I thought Lyle might be a good winner! you're only calling him Haye because 'that guy who used to be the wba title holder' is too long even for you.

My take was that Haye knew he'd never be able to stand with wlad and out work him - thats how you get KO'd... He was looking for a big shot that never came, Wlad's jab is just too damn good.

Hayes head movement impressed me and tbh so did some of the right hand that he took clean. The whole thing was 'once wlad connects Haye is dead' and wlad did connect a hand full of times.

Was in a night club so didn't hear interviews etc but he's only losing respect he could of had by going on about a toe.

Haye looks like a total idiot with all that trash talking and belittling Wlad's opponents. He attempted very little in order to win the fight. It makes me think a number of the top 10 have a very good shot of beating Haye. Heck, I think even James Toney could probably ice him. Haye is simply not a particularly good heavyweight and has been all Jeff Lacy really.

Miles, I really don't think you understand the reality of what was in front of Haye. A high skilled and experienced fighter who out weighed Haye by over 2 stone!

He stuck to his tactics, which were the only real option (unless he wanted to be sparked) and couldn't land what he wanted to. Wlad put it on the line no more than Haye did... His style and size meant he'd never not win by UD if Haye couldn't stop him. In my eyes considering Wlad had two stone on Haye - he wasn't much less content to survive than Haye was.

It amazes me when boxing fans get suckered in by hype and prefight talk. I know you dislike Haye (or his grammar!) but really? Old, fat ass Toney? You must be trolling!!

Sticking to tactics that PROVIDE NO CHANCE OF WINNING is pretty freaking disgraceful if you ask me (which you didn't).

Adam it was a disgrace. The guy spent the entire fight circling and throwing nothing. He was landing about 5 punches a round at best. It was shocking after all the smack talk and it is a fact that several opponents have given better displays against Wlad. Haye is just another HW contender and nothing more. There is no harm in pointing that out and it was nice to see it really confirmed

Perhaps Toney is reaching a little as noone knows what he can do, but I haven't seen Haye actually give a meaningful performance against an elite fighter either.

He is a hype job and I stand by my assertion. Haye has been a British Lacy.

And sticking to tactics that almost guarantee getting sparked is just plain stupid.

How he boxed was his best chance... It was just a slim one.

Exactly, if you want to beat the best then you need to take a few risks. We saw it a little in the final round, but prior to that he did bugger all. It was a man looking to survive and take the paycheck. No different to all the others that Haye belittled.

The guy is a cruiserweight and only the 2nd guy in over five years to go 12. As I said I don't think you quite grasp the reality in that ring Miles.

He was by no means good, but 'disgrace' is too much... He was up against it.

Lacy was a super middle, so was Joe. No excuse there.
Are you telling me Wlad boxed as well as Joe did? Like I said he put no more on the line than Haye did.
