Although Valero was flat footed I thought! I think his sudden reaction and aggressiveness would keep manny away from him. Although valero didnt fight the big ones I think it woulda been interesting

I'd have to say that as much as we saw of Valero, Manny would have beaten him every night of the week. That's not to say that Valero could not have improved enough to have got a win over Manny a couple of years down the line.
It's a shame we will never know. Valero had devastating power and was a very intense fighter but to me he appeared very raw and Manny would have had too much skill, he is a more complete and refined fighter.
Would have been good to see definitely though. Look at how Mannys career turned out after 2 early career ko's and a draw more than a decade ago. (although killing himself to make weight had a bit to do with being ko'd for me)
Valero definitely had the potential to to reach the level required.
I really liked him, too bad the commission there were so inept that they allowed that amount of brain damage to continue to compound and lead to ..well where it did.
That aside I do believe Manny would smoke him at that stage of Edwin's career.

Pacquiao....shouldn't be difficult to beat a dead guy![]()
You would had to go for Manny, Valero did hit very hard but Pacman has the speed pity it would
have been a great fight.
Did you watch Valero in against DeMarco? Flat footed he was not. Made Demarco look a plain and straight pedestrian plodder. His footwork, speed, combinations and accuracy was quite something to watch I thought. And he fought with a huge gash from an elbow very early too for the whole fight nearly.
Valero was such a tragic tale. The head injury. When he fought and trained in US early in the career-he was not only lauded for his power, but also his boxing skills (which he displayed a little bit of that against Demarco).
Then the injury-goes overseas and by all accounts was training himself. Whatever boxing skills he had deteriorated.
A fight with Pac would have been fun, but only if Valero had a decent trainer and sparring for a few fights to really work on getting his technique in order.
I think Pacquiao could have quite literally killed him. Valero was never cleared to box Stateside for VERY good reasons. He had clear trauma to his brain, having had surgery to remove a blood clot after a motorcycle crash. The fact that he may have already been a manic depressive, woman beating drug addict makes it hard to attribute his behavior to the brain trauma, however the way he went out is certainly consistent with it.
More to the point. Anyone who has ever had a blood clot on their brain, and probably any bleeding at all, should never be licensed to box again. There is no gray area there whatsoever and it only takes one fight to find that out the hard way. Jermain Taylor had better hope he has someone who cares enough around him, that was scary stuff in his last fight when you think about it.
