    Default Gallaghers Gym

After a long unbeaten run the boys down at Gallaghers are going through a bad patch

after watching Murray lose to Mitchell and Smith lose to Selby I was quite suprised at the lack of plan B from both boxers

Smith was very easy to hit from the start and didnt try anything different, the bombs took their toll and a KO in the end was inevitable

    any thoughts?

They should stop matching their fighters to others whose surname begins with the same letter as theirs - its clearly a jinx.

Murray wasn't a surprise he was fighting a much better boxer and the only reason people gave Murray the edge was the fact Mitchell had gone of the rails and had not fought for 14 months, but both at there very best Mitchell is much the better boxer/fighter.

Murray is a good lad but is very limited and had fought absolutley no one his biggest fight was against old man Thaxton.

Smith was a shocker, Smith just got in a tear up and got beat up, I think he maybe under estimated Selby,These fighters are just not as good as we think they are both just domestic fighters. Murray should come back and fight the winner of Rees and Matthews. I think Rees v Murray has fight of the year written all over it.

I think that Gallaghers style is nto one which holds up at a higher level on a whole, I was surprised Stephen Smith went with him he is a tidy boxer and Gallagher seems to preach the same thing high guard and walk your opponent down, but his last three defeats in his camp two of them ( murray and macklin) were just beacuse they have stepped up a level. Joe Murray and Stephen Smith for me should not be with Gallagher which for me is having a negative effect on there styles the way his fighters seem to fight.

I also think his gym is to big he cant surely be giving enough time to the boxers who want to make it to world class like Murray and Macklin when he was lots of decent level boxers in the gym, I wouldnt be surprised if there is a bit of an exodus in the near future.

yeah smith did get far too involved, thing is it was clear he was doing the wrong thing from the first round and yet they didnt change anything

each round was the same, smith jumping and selby swinging bombs at his head

it could be more than a jinx, like a mental mix up, the name is mightier than the fists and all of that

The frustrating thing watching the Smith fight was that he was clearly the better boxer. Hands down more skilled.

He just lost his composure and got caught with some of the most stupid shots. That right hand was being wound up for weeks before he threw it.

I used to think that was a right good stable at the Gallaghers gym which it probably is, but only on domestic level.

The only fighter there I see becoming a world champion is Anthony Crolla as he seems to have the savvy to know when to box or when to stand and fight. I'm convinced he is the future of british boxing but he may need to leave that stable to fulfil his potential.
