Default Where Can You Go to Get a Fair Shake?

With so many robberies taking place last year, I wanted to discuss whether there is anywhere in the world you can go to get a fair shake (if you're not the hometown fighter or the promotions fighter?)

    Germany obviously springs to mind
The U.K sucks to come to for stoppages
A lot of robberies happened in the U.S this year too..

There are exceptions to all of these...

Germany - Haye vs Valuev (or was that somewhere else? I forget) Haye gets the nod in a close fight

Hopkins vs Calzaghe in Vegas (STFU Calzaghe fans it was a close fight..points shouldn't be scored for bitch slaps

U.K - Luevano vs Cook, Katsidis vs Mitchell..but these were knockouts.

It seems more to do with whoever is the promotional fighter and who can stand to make the promoters and other fat cats more money..

So, are there any countries where none of this matter's and justice prevails over the green?

Ive seen many foreign fighters getting a fair shake in JAPAN...

When you are fighting in UK or Germany, brace yourself to get robbed.. Everybody from the judges to the referees are all on the take..

JAPAN is a fair place to fight..

It's funny you mention that actually, that's where I got the idea watching the Solis K.O and obviously Cabalero was on the same card. I had never really heard of any high profile robberies in Japan. That's not to say they haven't happened and I'm sure that someone can/will mention one or two but it seemed like a fair place to travel.

I dont think there is anywhere a fighter can get a fair shake at all times.

There will always be a fighter who always fights at home and will always get the nod in close fights and sometimes even fights that aren't close at all.

I agree. I think all countries have had dodgy decisions to a greater or lesser extent. I'm not sure how you could change this though. There are far too many boxing organisations and this I feel makes it very difficult to have completely independent referees and judges. Boxing needs to reform, but whilst people are making massive sums of money this won't happen.

I think the reason Japan seems more fair is that they have open score cards after each round or something like that. So less likely to have dodgy decisions. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this.

    not just geography.

If you have two fighters from the same country but one is a much bigger name, he will get the benefit of the doubt in any close rounds.

Yeah right, like there is a long list of UK fighters getting gifted decisions at home. Most British title contenders HAVE to fight abroad and even when a BRIT wins a belt or two he still often has to go abroad to defend it. On top of this there are plenty of occasions where UK fighters have been shafted abroad. So yeah unlike the USA everyone here is on the take..really

Japan use to have their fighters win decisions in the past except Wayne McCullough, only recently may it look like they are being fairer. No place is consistently fair and neutral if their fighter is fighting. If you bring in the money, you have the belt organisations attention and support through their judges and the local authority who chose the ref.
