    Default Next for Wlad

So apparently Wlad says that the Thompson rematch is the next fight out there for him, although he did name some others fighters. Who do you think should be next, who stands a chance, and who do you want to see get a shot?

I doesn't really matter. The division is void of talent and even then he seems quite happy to fight guys like Mormeck.

I wouldn't mind if he'd go out and demolish these guys like I believe he is capable of... but he won't.

Unless he fights his brother I won't be watching. But no matter, for whatever reason 1000s of Germans will continue to do so.

I personally want to see Wladimir vs Arreola for a number of reasons.

    1. Cris has a great chin and good power
    2. Cris always gives effort in the ring (whether or not he trains properly)
    3. Cris has never been KO'd...he got stopped, vs Vitali but he never got put down
    4. Cris has had a resurgence of late, he's on a winning streak, he's fighting often.
    5. Cris has looked better and done better in training recently getting his weight as low as 234 in a recent fight

Out of the fighters listed let's be honest, he's the ONLY guy (bar Vitali) at heavyweight that can threaten Wlad with his power and take his punches for 12 rounds. Out of the guys that have beaten Wladimir 2 have beaten Wlad by weathering the storm of punishment and being able to give back punishment when Wlad got tired. That said Arreola would be a huge underdog, but he's the only guy that has a style that in the past has troubled Wladimir.

....other than him....and this is VERY sad....Evander Holyfield is the only other guy that can take the punishment, although James Toney may have been able to take it for a while too....they would both just get slaughtered because they lack power and their age has caught up with them.

Dereck Chisora, is the best fight out there entertainment wise.
It would also make the most money.

    We can all dream

    Otherwise Povetkin

As far as guys with proven solid chins...yeah that's about it...Tony Thompson has a good chin and good defense too, but if you take a look at the other heavyweights they are lacking in the chin department. Dimitrenko got hurt by Eddie Chambers and Luan Krasniqi; Povetkin hurt by Huck & Chambers; Fury has been hurt by Martin Rogan (if I remember correctly) and uppercutted himself

Seth Mitchell has looked good, but is woefully unproven...he COULD be ready for someone on Dimitrenko's level, but there are guys like Povetkin who may not be as good as Seth, but have loads more experience.

When you look at power, the list is dreadful...Arreola is the ONLY guy with a proven solid chin AND good power. Wlad can only fight who is out there....Chisora could end up getting a shot vs him in a year or two, although he could be closer to landing in a straight jacket than the boxing ring again!

    I voted Thompson...

Wladimir should go ahead and get rid of his mandatory(Thompson) before they start stripping titles. The first fight wasn't that bad...Tony gave him one of his toughest fights...even outlanding him 150 to 121.

I think Arreola would get stopped rather easily. He's a sitting duck for the one-two.

That's not fair, Erics44. Did you see Arreola's last fight? For all of one round, it was a great scrap + when has Arreola not been in a fun fight? Wlad freezes up a little against punchers, Arreola can punch, you never know. If Arreola gets a referee that warns againt holding, it would be entertaining, I believe.

im not slagging arreola so much, i like him, usually in good fights

but as much of a pity as it is, and as much as id like to see him bash the big gay russian up, in reality it would be a snooze fest where the only punches landing would be wlads jab

then wlad would want a cuddle for a while

see you think that wlads jab grab is a tactic, it isnt, he is quite an emotional dude, he understands the need to hit someone when hes boxing because thats the name of the game, but he then gets all guilty and gives them a big love straight after

then he does the cycle again

I agree, I voted thompson aswell, keep the belt and if I remember correctly it was not a bad fight last time, tony got some good shots in aswell. I doubt he will do any better this time but he is the mandatory challenger..

After that I think povetkin must be next(if they can get him to agree to it of course), he seems to be some form of belt holder(no idea how that happened :S), and he's unbeaten, olympic gold medalist and so on.. I haven't been keeping up to date with arreola so I am not sure about him but why not.
