Default Advice on what to focus on in training

When I was younger (18-19) I picked up boxing & it was the most fun I ever had in my life. Although I did it on & off due to my lack of commitment, I always found myself back in the gym sparring & training. I had one fight, & it still ranks as one of the top experiences in my life.

I'm 22 now, & been in the military for a little over 2 years now. Throughout those 2 years I've hit the boxing gym when it was possible (family & my schedule basically revolves around the military) mostly just the heavy bag & speed bag.

What I'm trying to say is that I've decided that I want to get back into boxing. It saved me from going down a different road & I love it, the training, the fighting, all of it. I leave for a military school in about 4 months, & before I leave I want to get one fight in.

My question is what should I focus on in training? I used my reach & conditioning to my advantage by keeping pressure on my opponet & maintaining a consistent punch output. My jab, straight, & right hook were my weapons. I turned to the forums to see if you veterans have suggestions or tips on what to focus on within the time frame I have.

Keep focusing on what has worked for you in the past. I am assuming that you will be primarily training yourself? Get yourself in shape and do what you have done. Are you looking to add something new?

Very broad question. My best and shortest answer is to focus on learning the fundamentals, ie: Your stance, your defense, your footwork, and your punching. I see to many boxers in a hurry to fight and when they get in a ring, it's the flaws in their fundamentals that screws a lot of them up.
