Looks like they are signing fighters, its mad seeing 50 cent in boxing promotion, I wonder how they will compete against the other top promoters.

World Boxing News: The Money Team promotional roster stands at six with surprises to come

Im sure I read on twitter there was a bit of drama between them and golden boy, doesnt goldenboy help promote mayweathers fights?? I wonder whats going to happen there.

What I'd like to know from somebody who does popular culture is just what business acumen does 50 cent have? I don't mean record deals, endorsements and so on. Has he done anything outside using his name and image to make serious money*?

Top Rank and King dominated American boxing promotion over the past few decades, then Golden Boy came along. GBP is nominally run by Fishnets but is actually run by an ex-banker who knows how to make deals and do business. GBP now have ongoing deals with several TV companies including an American network and have over a hundred TV dates every year. That takes a lot of time and effort to do and most importantly, investment. Not sure TMT will come up with the same kind of money to set up the same kind of structure or whether it's even possible.

And we have an ongoing problem where GBP and Arum don't co-promote a lot of fights. TMT have signed Gamboa from Top Rank. Most of Gamboa's prospective opponents are signed to TR. What incentive do TR have to make a Gamboa fight with one of their fighters? Same with GBP. I actually read where the GBP head, Shaefer, says he's willing to talk about matching Broner with Gamboa. I'll believe it when I see it.

Neither of the big two are going to give TMT a helping hand and have most of the top fighters signed to them. So how do TMT make regular fights for their guys to move their careers along. Boxing promotion on that scale is like chess and Floyd aside, who is a valuable piece, TMT look to be playing checkers. They'll have to spend some serious dough over a period of years and try to sign guys like Broner when they're out of contract to make any serious headway in the sport. It's not going to happen in five minutes.

TMT should do good that 50cent has had some mega business deals he sold his water company for billions and im sure he got a big cut from the sale, hes also into everything so between them they must have alot of money to get there project off to a good start, and there will be alot of young up and coming fighters that want to be just like floyd and sign with him i bet broner goes with TMT soon

Not sure 50cents knows what he's doing but you asked about his biz accumen, and its only one deal not much to go by. when vitamin water was just a startup he apparently bought a stake in it and when coke bought em out his stake was worth 400-500 million reportedly. He probably had advisors and what not but hell not to shabby

I've always heard competition is good for the consumer, that's us.
So, why not? There might be a bumpy start but since there's money evolved, everything will be worked out so everybody can get as much of the consumers, that's us, money as possible. 50 cent is worth 100 mil, so he is going to do things right.

As long as it puts some decent money in the pockets of their fighters then it should go well. If they dont rob their fighters it will go well. No reason for me to not trust them any less then Golden boy or Top rank. Stay fair and i see them doing well

50 has always been a big boxing fan. He's been around the sport a lot these last couple of years to get an idea on it's workings. He should do fine. He's not in this to lose money

I am interested to see how 50 cent will develop into the boxing game, without floyd he wouldnt be anything in the boxing game. They are good friends and hopefully we will see them put together something new to the boxing world, im sure we will see a lot coming from their stable. I was reading on sky sports that Mayweathers could be interested in training Khan?? or Emmanuel Steward, its decison time for Khan. But If Khan was to go to the mayweather gym, where would that stand him in terms of the goldenboy promotions career? I am not sure what the contract Khan has with goldenboy?? Tough one for Khan really, is he going to ditch Roach??

Nobody ever goes into anything to lose money. How long would Oscar have lasted if he hasn't basically handed the operation over to somebody who knows what he's doing? If 50 cent doesn't have any experience of running a business, and it doesn't look like he does, he's picked a hell of a business to start his career in. It'll be hard to avoid making money while Floyd is still active but TMT have to use however long that is to build a company infrastructure, build relationships with TV companies, get TV dates and most importantly build a stable of fighters that people want to see rather than just undercard performers for Floyd bills. It means hiring a lot of talented people to run the nuts and bolts of the operation too. They have to attract them and pay them what they're worth. They have to deal with TR and GBP and make fights with their guys while competing with them to sign boxers who are coming to the end of their TR/GBP contracts. Yeah. There's only one way to get it right and lots of ways to get it wrong.

I could give a shit about TMT, GBP, Top Rank, King, and even Cotto Promotions.
All I care about is... how is any of this going to translate into big boxing matches for us fans?
Is this going to make the big fights easier to make? Harder to make?
Once a big name fighter goes into promoting, which is all the rage nowadays, I lose interest... other than to know what's in it for me, the boxing fan.

Same reason I stay away from threads about how much "X" or "Y" boxer makes per fight.
I'd rather read up on advanced knitting techniques than read about boxers' economics.

My gut feeling is this (TMT) is an ill-fated adventure into something these guys know nothing about.

So you think everyone should clear out so King and Top Rank can do their thing? I would never trust King or Top Rank to do the right thing if there is money envolved, never! It's ALL about money. Top Rank and King know the business, they know every way there is to make money
in boxing, legally and illegally. Hell, I admire them! If you wanted to hire someone to clean up boxing, Bob or Don is your man. I know, I just crossed the line into another dimension.

Did you really interpret my post as me wanting only King and Top Rank??

I don't know how you got there, but ok.....

In any case, you ever heard the saying "too many cooks spoil the broth"? Well, exactly how many boxing promotion companies do we need? Again... I could give a rat's ass who is taking care of the promoting in boxing. As long as we the boxing fans get the fights we want, WHEN we want them..... not 5 years later.

More competition the better but still think their egos will get in the way of big fights.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
