Default Low fibre diet to make weight

Hey everyone. I'm fighting friday and unfortunately still have just over half a kg to lose. Im amateur so get weighed in the same day as the fight (couple of hours before) so don't really want to starve myself. I've heard going onto a low fibre diet 3 days before a fight can help with this. So cut down on fruits high in fibre and swap brown carbs for white etc. does anyone know if this is true and will it harm my performance and are there any other alternatives to shifting this weight? Thanks for your advice again.

Couldnt reccomend cutting fibre; your body needs it to digest.
As for the carbs- white is a no.

If I were in your position I'd up my water intake and reduce my carn intake.
Then 24 hours before weigh in reduce the water intake and restrict food as required.

You're more likely to become constipated and bloated and weigh more, not to mention you're avoiding other nutrients at a critical time before a fight.

Who the hell told you this?! Your opponent?

As an amature you've pretty much got to be walking around at or very near your fighting weight.

I saw it on a judo forum something to do with you can carry up to 4kg in your intestines. And cutting fibre will cause your stools to be more solid and can get rid of weight quick although in the long term will restrict bowel movement. I agree about walking round at the weight its because its the first one of season and im in novice championships boxing below 75kg for first time. Weighed at 75kg so should make it without doing anything drastic. Cheers for input lads.

Low residual (Fibre) diets are mainly used in the last week or week and a half leading up to competition. The stomach can hold on the average male (75kg) 4kg, and girl (60kg) 2kg worth of weight and it can take up to 1 week to rid the stomach of that weight.

Put simply Low fibre diets are designed to empty everything in your stomach and digestive system thus making you lighter.

These diets are great because you can eat things such as white bread, biscuits, rice bubbles etc and due to the low fibre content the food wont sit in your digestive system for 3 or 4 days, they will pass right through and not take up any unnecessary weight.

Another negative aspect of low fibre diets is the fact that these foods don’t contain vitamins and minerals so make sure you are taking a vitamin or mineral tablet of some sort to supplement any essentials you may miss due to skipping some types of food.

To clear your bowels, that is the complete opposite of what you should do. Filling yourself with stodgey food and getting little to no digestive fibre will have the opposite effect of what they're claiming.

I went away on holiday this year I filled myself up with Na'an bread, Garlic Bread, Pizza, pasta and a shit load of meat... basically no fibre.

I can't remember a single week where I went away from my eating habits so much and ate so little fibre.

When I got home I was 10 pounds heavier. two days of being back home and eating my normal diet of proteins, veg and whole grains, 7 pounds of it was gone. (down the toliet!)

If you really want to drop weight by shitting it out, then start eating a tonne of flaxseed or linseed.

In it's whole form, your stomach can't break down the shell... so it passes right through you taking any crap in your digestive track with it.

It's essentially 100% insoluble fibre, if you get it milled there's a lot of omega 3 in it... but you don't get the same effect in terms of flushing crap out.

But yeah... it's the polar opposite of white bread etc.

    Southpawolves....

Adam's pretty much on the money here, but that doesn't make your principle untrue.
4kg of residual "waste" can be carried in the intestine. This material is going through the final stages of digestion and isn't as "useless" as some might think.
However, when shedding weight it is a nice area to exploit.
The intestines can be cleared up gently with regular cups of green tea.
