Default How highly do u rate Holyfield?

Personally i have him (along with Marciano!) in my top 2 Greatest P4P HW's of all time! Exceptional fighter. Can u believe that even at the time of the Tyson fights ppl were calling for his retirement! His resume is incomparable. A truly great H2H fighter who was still able to fight at world level still into his 40's too.

What are your thoughts on the 4X champ? One thing that does overshadow his achievements' for me though is the 'Evan Fields' thing! Still though he was exceptional...

Was he better than vlad in your opinion?
    Holyfield was a true warrior.
But the damage he has taken is unbelievable.

I'm a big Holyfield fan. I watch at least one of his fights every week. That being said, his losses to Bowe and Lewis in his prime really hurt him in the all time rankings. I wish he would have fought Tyson about 3 or 4 years earlier then we would have had a true prime vs prime battle. Also, the Buster Douglas that Holy beat was not the Douglas that beat up on Tyson. Buster looked like shit in his fight against Holyfield. Would I put him in the top 15 HW of all time? Yes. Top ten? Maybe.

Holyfield is in my top ten, I think the fact that he was not a natural heavyweight combined with some of the problems he had to overcome, he had a great career.

I also count his wins over Tyson as a proper win, as Evander had just got over a heart condition, had 3 savage and damaging fights with Bowe and still managed to dominate Tyson for most of the fight.

You've also got to think of the guys he stepped in the ring with, people often applaud Froch for the list of people he has stepped in the ring with, well look at Holyfield! The guy has the best heavyweight boxing opponent list of the last 20 years.

Shame he has managed to lose the majority of money and had to move into an apartment. He was a true warrior but dont see him in my top 10 p4p hw's.

Steroids. He suffered tinyballs and heart problems

    Hes a cheat.

His mental christianity I think was to cover up any thought that he could possibly cheat, just like Jimmy Saville with all his charity work (even though he had fifty million kids each from a different woman)

As a cruiserweight I'd rate him top 3

As a heavyweight..................................... Yeah. I'll say this, he was a great boxer and I think he would be a contender in any era but an elite heavyweight, I just don't see it.

He's the greatest cruiser-weight that ever lived since the divisions creation in 1979.

Dudes a legend, easliy a top five personal favorite in all division from 1st day of being a fan. Its all hypothetical and speculative as to who-how-when-why he may have done vs the division best but easily top ten hvy for me here. A career of the good, the bad, and the ugly in all honesty and fairness but he was always doubted and remained fierce throughout. He's one of the ones you just put his wars on as 'background' now and remember exactly what you were doing when you saw them live the first time.
