    Cool Sparring

Hello, I've recently started boxing at a local gym. Since I've only had about 3 lessons in boxing (I have bought a big punching bag to do my exercises at home and to train my techniques), I've had problems with weekly sparring. I'm new to the club and the people there are hard to spar with, but I don't want them to go easy on me or something, cause in the ring people won't neither. I want to work for it, but I just wanted to ask some tips.
I'm still not fast enough to block all punches and because my sparringpartners are really quick, I wanted to know if their something I can do about my insight on how somebody could throw a punch at me, how to evade it, or simply how to get my punches fast enough to get someone's attention of.
Hopefully I can get some good tips here.
    Thank you for your time
    Greets from a rookie.

    First off welcome to Saddos.

    To address your question:

All gyms work differently. But imo, no one ever should be getting in to spar at anything remotely close to as little training as you have. I would think 3 months min 3x per week of training, learning the basics be the bare minimum. Would prob prefer more like 6 months before lacing up to spar.

    So there you have it.

try to spar with lighter guys, just work on defense and movements. Once you feel comfortable - move on fighting your weight class

Focus on a natural progression. This is way to early to spar. You will develop panic habits instead of focusing on technique.

This would be my suggestion. One step at a time, don't move foward until you have completed the step. This can take months if done correctly. I have guys work on stance and footwork for days before throwing a punch. If your feet aren't right how can you expect your punches to be? if your punches aren't right how can your combinations be?? etc etc..

    1. Stance
    2. Footwork
    3. Jab/Cross/Hook/Uppercut - Learn one punch at time - Don't rush yourself
    4. Combinations
    5. Defense - Range/Block/Parry/Slip - For each punch and combinations - again be patient.
    6. Some organized catch and throw
    7. Light Sparring
    8. Maybe then you'll be ready to go full speed.

Thank you for your help everyone, referring to the stance part, I'm now boxing with left side ahead, but I feel more comfortable when right side is at front. Does that mean I'm a lefty or is it otherwise?
Questions might not be the smartes ones, but I want to use full capability for the sport
