Default Andre Berto lashes out at the media

a series of tweets, former world champion Andre Berto expressed bitterness about his treatment by the media after losing to Jesus Soto Karass last Saturday night.

This f***** media is trying to crucifie me hu smh.. Everytime I step in that square circle it’s for everybody sitting in those seats man

Tore my shoulder out in the 3rd and still fought my a** off with one arm smh I don’t give a damn anymore man we’ll be back and will succeed

Cold game but thanks to everybody who continue to always support me and all the true warriors that bite down and show up always

    - Berto

Yea man.. fuck the media and those haters who are kicking a man when he's down.

His fight with Ortiz was neck and neck and he could have easily got the decision. Guerrero fight was no different. Even with one eye closed, dude fought his ass off till the end and had his moments.

And people are ignoring this but he injured his arm in the 3rd round against Karass yet still fought close..

Berto definitely isn't getting enough credit..

I agree. I'm sure he'll be back and because of his losses he won't be getting any more easy fights. So he'll be in entertaining fights for the public to watch. That'll do for me.

He's a fun enough fighter to watch, the fight between him and Ortiz was classic...I don't hold his losses against him, some of the most exciting fighters to watch are the ones who have some flaws in their game.

The boxing culture is notoriously cruel and unfair to it's athletes. We are especially hard on losers, which is rediculous given the many different factors that can go wrong in a prize fight.

That being said, it does need to be acknowledged that Andre Berto has fell pretty far from grace over the last 2 years.

The injuries he has has over the years and the ones in the contests will have an affect on him, he needs to rest and recuperate and come back stronger.

The fall is never as glorious as the rise. Respects to him and thousands like him who give just as much but never get what he himself was afforded. You ain't alone Mr. Berto, and you ain't special. He'll be put in again at a top level but I do think he is a spent force. Not in mind but body. It's clear as day.

What cost Berto some respect is when he as a welter beltholder pulled out of the Mosley fight about 2 weeks before it was scheduled to happen, citing the Haiti earthquake disaster except the Boxing media was all over the"step-aside money" story so that Floyd could box old man Mosley instead. Berto and Floyd both managed by haymon, and berto/mosley wasn't selling well. Even if there was no disaster, the Berto/Mosley fight still wasn't gonna happen. Blaming it on the tragedy and not acknowledging the money influence, hell, even downright saying there was no step-aside money at all, that cost him some respect.

Berto is a fighter who just can't win, boxers have given up with much less serious injuries and gotten less shit and he gets no credit for fighting through.

Berto firing his long time Boxing coach a few months back obviously didn't pay off last Saturday night.
Has that Coach said anything in recent months about step-aside money?

Hey, it's good business to take step-aside money. Mike Tyson's people paid Lennox Lewis over a million dollars for Lennox to step aside and let Tyson fight someone else instead.
Are you kiddin', over a million dollars handed over free-and-clear for doing literally nothing except stepping aside, and knowing the fight can still happen a year or so down the line? Who wouldn't take it? But you have to be upfront about that sort of thing.

Alot of that is because he's placed on a higher pedestal in the first place. Guys every week fight with less advertised injuries and we never know or see them pissing and moaning on a twitter account.

Berto did this to himself. I remember that, after the Ortiz fight, there was a big thing about he was doing sprinter training, and that this would make him a better fighter. Alas, improving your time in the 100 yard dash- or even the 220- does not teach you how to fight with your fists, or even how to use your feet in the ring.
The process of becoming a good professional fighter involves improving your skills, learning to be economical and efficient in the use of those skills, always getting the most out of what you have. I think that berto, like many recent fighters, was never deliberately matched competitively. Ortiz, Guererro, and Soto-Karass were all guys he was supposed to blow out but they fought back and Berto never bothered to learn how to fight

I mean what was he suppose to do turn down the fame and money? The media hates Berto to the point they screwed him out of fight of the year, it's really to much.

The media are just Coyotes who run to an accident scene much of the time. But it's a double edge sword, they made Berto also. Respect to any man between the ropes but in his case they had as big a hand in it as did his own two in the big picture I believe. He feels slighted on the other side when they come off like invested pitchmen looking for a return on some investment. Irony is how he fell in the first place and speaks to what was always his problem a wild hook thrown off balance.

I don't know what the media have been saying, but there's certainly no reason to criticize Berto and he's probably got every right to be pissed. Sure he's been hyped a lot and lucky to get the opportunities he did, but he's never given us a bad fight either. It's not as if he's been a Gamboa type, the guy actually tries to use what he has and always gives it his all. Of course he's never made good on his physical tools, but not everyone has it in them to be a smart fighter as I'm sure he's tried. I wish HBO would push more guys like him upon us in retrospect, he is great for the sport and it's no surprise whatsoever he keeps getting chances imo.
